  • Southerly: Refugee Status,

Chch Council urgently changes rules so "earthquake-prone" buildings now have to comply 66% with Building Code rather than previous 33%. I presume 100% is considered too hard?

    It's OK.

    You'll only be 100% - 66% dead. That's a hell of a lot better than 100%-33% dead. :-)

    Bog Alert!!!!

Decided to send email memo to Civil Defence. Have had this reply today:

    Hi Ross

Thanks for your email. Yes we are aware of this. We are well down the road in regard to a major revision of the Get Ready Get Thru website and associated public information. This revision contains information on emergency sanitation.

We hope to release this within the next few weeks. The English version of the site is finished, we are awaiting translations for the other languages featured on the site.

    Kind regards

What about the lack of any statistical link for anal sex?

    Bugger statistics.

Don't be so mean. Your average guy is just a standard deviant. A mere Student. T anyone?

  • Southerly: Refugee Status,

The trick is in the mounting of the glass. Jam it into solid frames with little room between the frame and the glass and.......oh dear..

But allowing the frame to flex works well. The issue of damp proofing the frames is the really really expensive bit.

Ummm...yes Sacha. Even if Chch local bodies regarded Chch as a "safer haven" than the rest of the country and seem to have, shall we say. been a little more hestitate to force folk to either reinforce or dismantle some of these buildings.

But thank anyone/anything you like for the timing of the damn thing!!!!

  • Busytown: The shakes,

So I wonder if water purification tablets are more useful. Because how many people are going to remember to keep changing the water?

Thsi is where the my chest freeze comes in handy. I have collected a shit load of milk bottles and washed them thoroughly (!!), filled them with nice clean water and frozen them. They are now sitting quietly in the bottom waiting...waiting..

When the wait is over, they will stay there keeping my freezer cold. Utilising their glorious specific heat and latent heat of freezing stashed inside a nice insulted box. Which, incidently, the family are well trained to ensure spare blankets are packed around it and newspaper put underneath it. I can take out fresh water and thaw it as the need arises.

Then I can sneak stuff out of my frozen larder and feast on meats, veges and other goodies that I have accumulated. BBQs here we come!
