A funky celebration:
Funky 16 Corners before the election
Funky 16 Corners after the election
(And I can't resist stealing his chosen clip)
here if the embedding ain't workin'for ya.

From Salon:
You gotta love Chris Matthews, calling Tom "The Hammer" DeLay a hater to his face on MSNBC, for predicting the imminent decline and fall of American civilization. As the camera cut away from the fallen GOP strongman, he sputtered, "I don't hate." To which a chuckling Matthews replied, "How about resent, are you OK with that?"

Is the USA the only country in the world where they’re counting and publishing votes while the polls are still open in 90% of the country?
Let's not forget that although the Presidency is the only nationwide poll the Americans have, it is more like 50 individual elections run by the individual states.

I really want to get my hands on that data!
We ar such fucking geeks :)

I'm willing to call it:
George W. Bush: Worst. President. Ever.
The Times gives it to....James Buchanan. Leading the country to Civil War takes some doing. GWB is ranked 37th equal with a certain Richard Milhouse Nixon.
I'm a fan of William Harrison, who caught a chill at his inauguration and served only 32 days. Bush must have had 32 good days mixed in there...

I say Fish would vote Obama.
I dunno, elderly, Jewish, probably retired in Florida. Would Sarah Silverman had convinced him?
Excellent segue in the Manchurian Candidate there, Craig. What was McCain doing to pass the time in the jungles of Viet Nam? -
DL Hughley is hosting a one hour election special on CNN this weekend. Can none of the actors from Studio 60 find acting work anymore?
and then...
The best part was Christian eschatologist Hal Lindsey not-too-subtly outing Obama as the Antichrist.
So that's what Barney Miller is up to these days. I thought he was dead.

Townshend and Moon; Richards and Watts; Cooder and Keltner....
...the Asheton brothers. At the moment, I am mostly listening to this and am struck how the guitar and drums hold things together, and how melodic the bass parts are.
(28 takes in a row of Loose, I'm in heaven)

Apparently Johnny Ramone spent the first 3 montsh learning to play the guitar by standing in front of his mirror, getting the stance right, before he bothered to play a note.
And Clem Bourke of Blondie was Elvis Ramone for about five minutes before he realised he couldn't play that way.
I realise I can't think of one technically proficient but aesthetically boring rock guitarist.
Mark Knopfler, Chris Rea spring to mind.
I could finally prove that Ringo actually is a great drummer to all the naysayers.
Ringo's a great drummer. unhurried and recognisable. I always liked this alleged exchange between Lennon & a reporter:
Reporter: Do you think Ringo is the best drummer in the world?
John Lennon: He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles. -
Haydn, are you forgetting a certain __Melody Rules__?
