Although it's been pretty quiet of late. Even in the build up to the last test there were no angry stories about John Afoa being in the line up etc.
It's a fine line. Do we want there to be stories where there aren't any?

I do quite like the black-singleted understatement of 'pretty fucking average'.
Weird, I never took it to mean what you've all described it as. I always figured it meant "the all-players average" not their individual ones. By which I mean if Dan Cater only scores 3 points instead of his average of 20 (a figure I really must look up one day) then he's down to being an "average" player rather than the world's best first-five.
Although it has to be said, sports commentary is not the place to go for the best in language.

In order to say that you must have a pencil moustache, an open neck shirt (possibly orange and yellow), gold chains, and lots of chest hair.
And "woman" must be pronounced "woo-man"

I kind of don't understand TVNZ and the Radio station's (Radio Works?) logic here. the goofy affable sports presenter has got to be the easiest type of job to fill in the world.
So why spend time worrying about whether you can replace him? Just that one night after this all came out and he was still reporting sports was enough to make me change the channel.
Also i think the link between Vietch and sportspeople is tenuous at best. Hanging out with Marc Ellis and Matthew Ridge doesn't make you a sportsman. It makes you something*, but not a sportsman.
