I was busy last night, but I've just listened to the clip on Stuff, with headphones -- and I'm very surprised at how clearly I heard "I shot that prick", even allowing for the fact that I've been primed to hear it.
I guess I could construe it as "I can't breathe" too, but it's not what I hear.
I can understand why it was not allowed in evidence, but there was more there than I thought there would be.

That evidence has been suppressed.

You're not listening hard enough. Just towards the end you can also hear where he hid Hoffa's body.
I changed the post upon releasing that the part in question was excised from what the jury heard.
Which seems a little like tampering with evidence to me ...

The 111 call was made by the appellant when he reported the deaths of his family members. On 30 January, the Court of Appeal dismissed the appellant’s appeal against the ruling as to admissibility. 3 Mr Bain has been granted leave to appeal further to this Court on the admissibility of part of the recording. The part of the recording to which objection is taken contains what the Crown says is an admission: “I shot the prick” or “I shot that prick”.
But as he says, there's quite a lot else to read there.
