...must.... rrrrresist anality..... loosing... battle...
we use ".govt", oztraylia uses ".gov"
and, i would addressed my email to air new zealand, "dear andrea, how about we spend your salary providing decent customer service..."

What strikes me about these sorts of events is how strongly some men hold grudges and the determination to make as many people pay as possible. Women just don't do it.
i would suggest you've never worked in an office.

These things look at lot clearer with hindsight.
i just thought it was great to hear that it was a crazed loner who did the shooting.
makes me rather sanctimonious about my policy of always taking time to talk to loners, engaging them in conversation with a 'real person', you know, neighbourly type stuff.
i'll be the one who's told to 'get, before someone gets hurt'.

someone better check tarantino's place for a gun collection, right now.

i think purchasing guns legally just means you're on a security camera somewhere. apparently its very easy to buy guns illegally in most states.
i heard somewhere (or maybe it was a german doco? i forget) that a lot of crims use ex-police weapons, which were sold by the police, then sold into the black market.
i think what we outsiders forget is that we're talking about a culture that literally worships guns. it's so ingrained there's no turning back.
ever hear that joke, "how do you know you're a redneck? your gun rack, has a gun rack"

i think this thread just godwined.

I have done something entirely good for the last two days...
I have not turned on a televison.
i gave up tv entirely six months ago.
best decision i've ever made. people look at me like i'm crazy when i tell them that.
damn junkies...

The fucker follows and drives up besides me - hand on his police issue shotgun in the car.
gun-toting cops are just like that.
i asked a cop in oz about height restrictions to get into the force (he was maybe 5'8?).
he put his hand on his gun, and asked me to repeat the question...

Sure Che: disabling a gunman with a roundhouse karate kick is a good way of stopping him (if you have one of those up your sleeve). But would you, in all seriousness, question the bravery (for this is what the chap at NRO is doing) of kids who were weren't quite up to rushing someone who is randomly killing them?
nope, there's no way those kids could have. rushing a gunman standing metres away with a semi-automatic is simply crazy.
in the monash example i think the student was behind the gunman and threw himself on top of the shooter. the teacher was shot while they tried to pin the shooters hands.
i, OTOH, was locked in an office with half a dozen other staff.

That experience made me realise that Sacha Baron Cohen is either incredibly brave or a complete idiot.
yup. that scene where he 'hangs with some homies' was pretty edgy.
