  • Hard News: Prospects,

Can I just urge y'all with Freeview to watch the Media7 special at 7pm.

I'm just back from the "as live" part of it, and we wrapped up what I'm sure is the best show we've done.

Now, making food for guests later, which is another thing that makes me happy.

  • Hard News: Prospects,

That's Public Address Radio, five o'clock today on Radio Live. :) Ans as Russell said, whether I agree with you or not, mad respect not only to those who are getting off their arses to vote, but everyone who has participated in the practical work of democracy.

One thing I really liked about our spin doctors' lunch for tonight's show was that it humanised the politics, and underlined that reasonable people can disagree.

Also, that those guys genuinely felt their own lapses when I asked them about regrets in the job. It was enlightening and enjoyable.

  • Hard News: Prospects,

Hi sage. I'd rather strongly debate several of your points, but I think it's proper to steer clear of anything that looks like an exhortation to vote a particular way, it now being Election Day.

I'd be grateful if everyone did the same until the polls close.

But: I think reports from polling places etc would be fun.

The thing I like best about John Campbel ...

Actually, I should make it clear I like John Campbell -- and his new stand-up screen thing.

  • Speaker: Copyright Must Change,

Although this does speak to something Leesig admitted was a grey area when I asked him a question after the lecture.

If someone is to take my text and place it on a website bearing advertising, even if it's Google ads, they're in the same business I am.

Is that commercial or non-commercial use? It's tricky, because I would expect to be able to use CC content here if I chose, and there are clearly advertisements on every page.

We make money in so many small ways on the internet, and it's not all that clear where the boundaries are.

I'd like to see a hybrid advertising network/CC content service -- so you'd transparently share revenue with the artist on every page impression if you took the advertising.

__By the way, am I the only person who, after reading the title of the post, is singing "You Sexy Thing?"__

No sirree, you are not the only one at all. 'Yesterda-ay, I was one of the lonely people...

    And that!

    Thank you for that.

  • Speaker: Copyright Must Change,

My suggestion would be to very clearly announce that the site layout is under ordinary, no-rights-granted, copyright, while the published content is under whichever form of CC licence you decide except where otherwise stated. Amongst other things Cactus have their own copyrights in the engine, and the last thing you want to do is tread on their toes.

And thank you again. My mind is yet clearer.

    __Greens will be around 13%__

    That puts me in parliament.
    I guess I owe you a beer, then !

Mikaere, I think we'd all feel a little sense of ownership if that happened. Good luck.

Just because Russell is in a drunken stupor mumbling about MLK and Obama, don't think that he doesn't provide the forum.
    David just provided the spark?

David is the application, I'm just the platform.

And dude, getting tiddly yesterday was actually my job. Although I had to concentrate throughout. Turns out to be a rather tiring combination ...
