They don't have any Bic Runga on the i-tunes store? I've got heaps on my computer, maybe i could sell them some of my tunes at $1.79 a pop...
Well, I noticed I can get to the (new) Brooke Fraser tracks via the promo box at the top of the store, but not via the iTunes search. So there may well be lots of Bic Runga loaded but just not yet findable via the non-functioing search box.
I notice Brooke Fraser is also available via the Australian ITMS, even though it's not been released on CD over there as yet (which also backs up the quote earlier in the thread about the front page being shared with Australia).
No doubt more local stuff is being integrated/uploaded presently, but you'd think that would have been done before launch date.

Hmm. No Dave Dobbyn, Crowded House, Tim Finn, Neil Finn, Hello Sailor, Dragon, Bic Runga, Brooke Fraser yet.
iTunes got some uploadin' to do!

Ack. My credit card's over its limit - will have to wait until I get paid tomorrow to buy my first track (Erotic City is avaialble, thankfully).
Having a browse and notice that Split Enz' "Corroboree" is available. Pity they didn't restore the proper Waiata title. ;-) Also I see that the 2 Enz rarities discs only available in the Silver & Gold box sets aren't available.
I don't know about others' putrchasing habits, but I'll dare say most of my purchases (at least initially) will be non-album tracks (or tracks only available in compilations / box sets like Princes Erotic City) and rarities. If it's easily available on disc at a reasonable price, then I'd probably prefer the CD.
Also looking forward to when the labels upload their b-sides (I know that all over Bic Runga's messageboard are requests for her b-sides, some of the Tom Bailey remixes and her non-album tracks are amazing).

On my PC I had to sign in and change my country at that point from Australia (from a previous Quicktime Pro purchase) to New Zealand to enable the NZ store.
Yeah, kinda empty on the front page. $3.60 for a music video. Not bad, I really hope that a bunch of archival NZ music videos get uploaded in due course. Though if memory serves me correctly I think a number of those old clips may be partially owned by TVNZ who originally filmed them (I'm thinking early DD Smash etc).
And what local TV shows are going to be the first up there? I see Bro'Town is (officially) all over YouTube. Are US & Canada's ITMS the only territories currently selling TV shows?
Off to see if Prince's Erotic City is available. I've wanted that for the longest time...

I know this isn't connected to Fiona's blog, but... memo to TVNZ. The only thing that would cause me to switch from Campbell Live to Close Up would be a Wells/Casserly presenter/producer combination.

Yup.

Thanks for the clarification of the show's title James. Love your work!
Also the mates from Te Atatu and I had a good chuckle about that reviewer (Herald, maybe?) who panned the show for being cliche ridden and full of unrealistic charactures. Holy hell, has she never been over the Norwestern Causeway?
Us westies love the little in-jokes like "Chris Amon High School" that won't mean anything to anyone who lives more that 50km from Henderson Square (__West City__ my ass).
Also, our Te Atatu friends found the West's house one night on an evening stroll - according to local legend it used to belong to Barry Butterworth and was the scene of many a Westie party back in the day, so quite a nice piece of location-casting. Mr Butterworth eventually bought the house next door to my parents up the scenic drive, so had our share of exposure to traditional Westie parties in my formative years too, even if it was just via bass throbbing through the walls at 2am most weekends.

Ep titles are also Shakespearean. A sad indictment of our education system, frankly.
Well, it's coming up 20 years since my last high-school english lesson. :-( Of course, being of danish heritage, I guess I should be able to recite Hamlet backwards.
At any rate, I still think the title of the show could be a little more meaningful to average punter...
If it's the one I'm thinking of, I thought it was sweet.
Mikey was rung up by Robyn Malcolm on b breakfast the next day offering consolation. Poor Mikey made the best of it, right up until Rockpig appeared at the studio door replicating Van's moves.
Fantastic radio.

Agreed about Outrageous Fortune. I thought it was robbed at the TV Awards. Still, it got the $$ for more showsso that's all that matters (I though The Strip probably had another season left in it when it was canned), and for reasons unknown never watch any of the Insider's Guide series.
Something that's always bothered me about Outrageous Fortune though. Why such a lame, generic, meaningless title? It's like it came from one of those 2-word Hollywood action 'nothing' movie title generators (Hard Target, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Collateral Damage etc). Or that the Wests were initially the Fortunes, but had their name changed late in the pre-production piece but someone forgot to update the title.
My poor wife can never remember what the show is called ("You know, that Westie show that we like").

; I mean, flying into soundcheck in a helicopter? Get your hand off it mate!
Well, if you're staying on some private island in Mercury Bay off the coromandel peninsula and taking in some of the local ambience, I dare say that a chopper will get you to the soundcheck faster than either a Richies coach or a Fullers Ferry...
