I noticed this a bit late for the blog, but this story of the pursuit of Billie Holiday, adapted from Johann Hari’s book Chasing The Scream: The First and Last Days of the War on Drugs , is a shocking and still relevant read. I will have to find this book.

Looks like Ms Barnett has worked out that irony doesn’t have to mean detachment. She sounds almost pissed off. And her band sounds pissed off too. Cool!
She sounded really pissed off when they played that one at Laneway.

1) The backing singers were easier to identify, in spite of wigs.
There's a challenge for the readers!

Just to keep things rolling, here are some dodgy pics (Jackson got a bunch of better ones) from last night’s post-Laneway Connan Mockasin gig for the Herald’s Sundae Sessions, on the roof of 1 High Street in the city.
You know, most bands go into a session looking to get tight, clean versions of their five key songs. Connan and his band just kind of got loose. The finale was Connan’s dad Abe taking a break from necking free Heinekens to step up and take the lead vocal on ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’. The man has a lovely tenor.

Royal Blood. Quite liked their back drop.
Spare a thought for the drummers.
I liked the "and now I'd like to introduce you to everyone else in the band" line.

Royal Blood – ROCKIN’ power duo, boiling down bogan ridiculousness into its finest essence. Clearly heavily influenced by QotSA (and then back to Zep). I laughed out loud with delight several times during their set, so (oddly enough) this was in my top few acts of the day.
Me too, and that was quite a surprise to me. My buddy noted the QotSA vibe, while I was hearing glam rock at times. Fun band.

Hard News: We can make things better here, in reply to
But unless you use St Lukes
I will use St Lukes. It's only slightly further away from where I turn into the main road than the Carrington Road corner is, and that intersection can be a real bugger to get through.

Meanwhile, the Instagram account Man Buns of Laneway is a highly-focused labour of love. So many buns, so little time.
