No pressure, then ;-)

Hard News: Friday Music: So much music I…, in reply to
I consider myself of around average intelligence and have used an app before, so it should be easy right, but nothing, NOTHING, has made me feel as lost, hurt and confused as the Spotify UX. It’s likes it actively hates music, listening to music, or people who do in fact want to listen to music.
I am genuinely relieved to confirm that it's not just me.

from August. Not a peep since. Another blowhard.
Yes. That's a deafening silence right there.
A defamation action would inevitably lead to a discovery process and that could/would get very, very messy.
It still might be fun for a journalist to ask him about it though.

And yeah, guilty of tub thumping, tendentiousness, being a bore, and worse, so I’m immeasurably grateful for your tolerance of my often injudicious longwinded posts.
You try my patience sometimes Chris, you really do. But you’re still in the house :-)

And Capture: thank you for Capture Jackson in this year where I didn’t contribute much or even comment but appreciated it all mightily.
The Capture threads are a phenomenon. It’s like a group of us – Jackson, Jonathan, Matt Buchanan, Gary Henson and me – accidentally designed something great.
Matt created a “photopost” template for Capture, which was also available to other blogs on the site. We also had this primitive legacy file upload feature in comments that no one ever used, but we tried it – and then Matt and Gary realised it needed inline images and turned around that feature in a few hours so we could launch with it. (Gary subsequently came up with the workaround for posting multiple images in a single comment.)
Immediately, readers were having conversations in pictures. The key part of that was Jackson making it clear there would be no photo-snobbery: just post what you’ve taken that seems relevant. That was a really key vision. And as far as I can recall, no one has ever abused that posting privilege.
Some Capture threads are more relevant to me than others, but having them there – and being able to participate – has been brilliant. They encourage me to take pictures and to think about what I’m taking.
NB: This should probably all have been in the main post. Gizza break, dammit.

Ahem, LOCAL boards …
Duh. How many times will I make that same mistake? Thanks.

God damn you, Russell.
I was 100% certain that someone would post that clip in the first half-dozen replies.

Also, Russell’s own 2005 collection of a century’s worth of speeches and essays, Great New Zealand Argument: Ideas About Ourselves, is – if not the daddy, then certainly the benevolent beardy big bro of our own brainchild.
So kind! By the same token, when I did that project, I was consciously looking to whakapapa back to the pamphlets and small presses of earlier eras.

OMG the Pete George discussion! I'm actually warming to that Kimbo chap. Pete's an unstoppable zombie.
