Hard News: Word of the Year 2014: #dirtypolitics, in reply to
Not entirely sure how the turducken came into it. But, say you like did one, would you bone, fillet and stuff it yourself, or get the butcher to do it?
Craig and I were talking about the turduckens that Farro sells ready-made.

I wouldn't make you go there, but here's Pete George in Kiwiblog comments this morning:
Brown et al have tried to depict ‘Dirty Politics’ as John Key bad, the left clean ... a number of core commenters on Hard News showed how soft they are, they didn’t like their ‘Nicky is God’ meme being challenged and Russell ensured an alternative view was shut out. The Public Address vote on Word of the year reflects a message controlled community view.
Bless.
Truth is, I finally had to ban Pete on account of him being a tendentious windbag apparently immune to reason.

Especially if I manage to convince David that re-mortgaging the house for a turducken is a good idea.
I would consider* having 20 people around on Christmas Day purely so I could say "I cooked a turducken."

In spite of best practice evidence and parental advocacy turning against the institutions, the 1953 report of the National Government’s Consultative Committee, which became known as the Aitken report after the doctor who was chair of the committee, recommended that disabled and mentally ill people be housed in large ‘mental deficiency colonies’ containing several hundred people, and extending current institutions such as those at Levin (Kimberley) and Templeton
I visited Templeton when I was I was at school in the 70s and it was a strange and challenging place. My memory is of room after room scattered with children with various and apparently undifferentiated disabilities. None of them seemed to be doing much besides existing.

What’s the point of being famous if The NZ Herald can’t even be bothered getting your name right?
Oh dear. That's very poor.

As a new member of Russell Brown’s troops (though I never took his shilling), I’m curious: is there a base? Does all of it belong to us? Will there be cake or is that a lie?
You'll get your cake when you complete the initiation process. Sacha will explain the details. It's nothing to worry about, although you might want to bring a change of clothes.
