Hard News: The Hager saga continues, in reply to
From a Whaleoil post to Claire Trevitt publishing it in the Herald took about 4-5 hours.
Arrggh. We’ve been here before and it’s a non-story – unless, of course, we’re going to start scrutinising the travel of government ministers (and their entourages) to National Party fundraisers. Which we’re not.
This is actually quite depressing.

Back on topic, Matt Blomfield now hasa letter from Judge John Carruthers, the chair of the IPCA apologising that a letter to Slater could be taken as indicating it believes Slater's allegation that Blomfield was guilty of perjury, which is "not a finding made by Police or us after investigation."
The judge also confirms that the police are now reviewing their original finding that Blomfield's hard drive had not been stolen.

Speaker: “Foreign forces”, hope and Hong…, in reply to
The Chinese government isnt tear gassing anyone. The Hong Kong SAR has its own police force.
Yes, sorry, that was sloppy of me.
If you remember the Occupy Auckland protest was broken up by the police. Some would say, its what they do.
The Auckland occupiers were evicted after four months and a formal court process. Three cops behaved unacceptably in failing to display their badges, but there was no tear gas or batoning and there were no mysterious masked thugs attacking protesters.

You say that because of the influx of mainlanders and thus the dilution of the Hong Konger identity that many Hong Kongers are moving overseas. Surely that’s a little bit hypocritical: aren’t Hong Kongers moving, to say, Auckalnd, the same as mainlanders moving to Hong Kong?
Let me answer this: no. The Chinese government doesn’t run New Zealand let alone tear-gas Aucklanders in the street, the language (written and spoken) is in no danger of disappearing, retail still serves the needs of residents, the scale of migration and tourism is in no way comparable. It’s just not a comparison.

Do you actually believe the veracity of anything sent to you by Slater? He punked Bomber with this kind of manipulation, and I expect he would love to punk you too.
The Bomber thing was all secret-squirrel and appealing to his vanity.
In this case, the letter provided by Slater is noted in Fisher's story and acknowledged to me as real by Blomfield.

Blomfield’s letter sent to the IPCA this morning giving his side of how the hard drive went missing and what was said to the police (which is quite interesting) and asking for an apology from the IPCA over the impression given that he had perjured himself.
An earlier response from the IPCA on a similar complaint.
I have to agree, the IPCA’s wording to Slater was pretty sloppy. But I guess writing with a massive migraine headache will do that.
