Although the V8s turn both ways, they're still governed by some wierd rule that ensures that the makers of Proper Fast Cars (like various large German and Japanese companies, or indeed dedicated racing car makers like McLaren) don't join in. (Though I assume that Ford and General Motors contract the car design out to external specialists?).
Unlike F1, where basically it's a competition to make the quickest car that fits the formula, thus seeding a whole hi-tech industry.
And what happens to the V8s if GM goes bankrupt. Ford vs Ford?
I agree, it was that much more exciting during the Group A days when there was a wider variety of carmakers competing. These days the V8 Supercars are more NASCAR than Touring Cars, with matching demographics.
If GM does go bankrupt, they might as well make things more exciting by rotating half the cars 180 degrees on the starting grid.

In response to Q7:
Sports race - the NASCARS.
Human race - the Westboro Baptists. -
I'm really rather pissed off at this R&D move. What exactly is the justification for making it harder for technology businesses to stay in NZ?
The Kaths and the Kims, I wager.

Speaking of photography, it's been a recent hobby of mine to collect a digital photo essay of Wellington's evolving cityscape, for better or worse.

Kyle: Charles E Wilson may very well have believed that what was good for General Motors was good for the country (or, to be strictly accurate, "What’s good for the country is good for General Motors, and vice versa"). That doesn't make it any more excusable.
In our neck of the woods, substitute "GM" for "Telecom", and "Charles E Wilson" for "Rod Deane".

Kyle M:
Taking away tax breaks for R & D? That I both 1. don't get, and 2. dont' see why National has put it in. It'll turn off a moderate portion of the business sector right after they've finished going "great" after reading about more tax cuts.
I would have thought the R & D tax breaks National would have been right behind.
Already the exporters have fired a salvo. The not-very-socialistic Jo Doolan has also fired in the hole. Even Biz NZ seems to have trained its guns.
Jeremy E:
sure we do suprisingly well on some individual measures, i guess it would be correct to say we are a normal oecd economy with nothing socially or financially to out of the ordinary , that's what the data says.
The billboards make out we are a on a path to basketcase status failing excepted first world measure.
It's funny how certain elements of the 'race to the bottom' lobby exhibit the very insularity and bloody-mindedness of the 1970s trade union culture they purportedly despise.

Jeremy E: In the words of Barack Obama, too many people take pride in being ignorant.

Strangely enough, the loudest advocates for Sharia law in NZ wouldn't touch the Quran with a bargepole.

You were being ironic, some people aren't...
How far up on the Allport scale would these fellas be? I'd estimate a 2.5.
