  • Hard News: Time to move on, in reply to JackElder,

Nothing new in that. My jury experience was the same. Once the mornings teas and "throw-the-jury-out-while-we-argue moments started, there were two who had already made up their mind. Defendant wore a league jersey for gods sake! GUILTY!

BTW Andre: How did you get excluded after empowerment? Know someone who was involved??

    Nick the rubber ball!

Edit: Just watched Smith at Wgtn Airport. Brutal. (ON TVNZ 7 BTW!!)

  • Hard News: Reputation and remuneration,

There have been no approaches to TVNZ about purchasing that land since June 2011 because negotiations on the proposed convention centre are continuing, including on the design and size of the building

Yes. You see we will wait until we have designed it, the gummint will see the plans 'overlay' into TVNZ and they will then see we just need that little weeny piece.

This will happen within minutes of TV7 being shutdown. Well, I mean to say, it will be obvious that that weeny space is now surplus to requirements.

Oh..and how many extra pokies and tables will we be putting in???

Phew......someone else has finally mentioned Bronwyn Pullar. Place has been deathly quite over this saga.

Now. About Ms Boag's presence in all this.......

  • Hard News: Time to move on,

Heh. Amazing number of four year old links that no longer point to page 405 !!!!

But going by that first post we do have a history of blunting these so called reactionaries.

Do I note that the 'white' ones seem to have been the most likely to turn out the most potentially violent.

Of course the greatest was the flour bombing of Eden Park. And the cops didn't manage to stop that one even though they had their informants.

Carry on....do we / should we keep calm after this??

    Cameron's Roads:

This would be seen as a particularly radical step because it would be a form of hypothecation – allowing a stream of revenue to be directed at a particular project.

New Word: Hypothecation. Like an Auckland Petrol tax.

And surprise, Treasury don't like it.

Why do people want to build complexity into works and services for the masses? Oh thats right. We can charge double for it....again and again.

Sorry Russell for mentioning the possibility of speech writing. Seems some may not have seen the lump in the side of the cheek when I mentioned Ferrar.

  • Hard News: The Vision Thing,

And now an ACC leak. It appears Michelle Boag is somehow linked to the "client" who is the subject of a report.

Today Bronwyn Pullar says that Michelle Boag was at the meeting.

The report says it occurred 1 December "

when two senior managers met with the recipient of the information".

No mention of a fourth person. How strange.

Wow. Poor privacy rules and procedures. This would never happen if it was in private hands.

Could be a very convenient leak.

  • Hard News: The Vision Thing,

things like the large amount of social housing Christchurch City Council provides.

Well, they can sell that to help finance the earthquake damage can't they. It's a no brainer. ....for those with no brains.

The Hooten was heard on Nat Radio a few weeks ago making comments about local v central govt. He was making a point that our 'fees' for local govt are 20 times less than our 'fees' to central govt. He was suggesting we should tame the big fee rather than the small one.

If there is any organ of society that should borrow to improve services and facilities it is local govt. The people who will use them should be the ones that pay. It is healthy as we get to see what our fees are being used for. Buy in and ownership are healthy attitudes to encourage.
