I don't recall having heard Lovegrove re-use material, but I've Ewen Gilmour certainly had a hell of a lot of stock routines. I've seen 2 similar shows over a year apart.
And I think these sort of experiences have put me off going to stand-up.
I appreciate new material is hard, but Raybon Kan is someone who I'd single out as writing whole reams of new material. And sometimes it really hasn't been funny. I don't know if he's improved, but I really felt there were times where he could have realised that he was not winning, should have quite and moved on, but didn't. But full credit for writing new material!

Slight digression. Even a lot of europeans don't realise that the EU Parliament is in Strasbourg...

Tom -- I'm not sure about Stephen's opinion that top judges usually sit with the Lords. However, names can be a little misleading. After all, withouth prior knowledge , who is to say that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Cooke_of_Thorndon" target="_blank">Baron Cooke of Thorndon wasn't from Thorndon in Suffolk. Also bear in mind that while NZers get to pick a spot in NZ to Lord of, they also have to have one in the UK as well. Thus, he was also Baron Cooke of Cambridge. Incidentally, the first and last Baron of Nelson (Ernest Rutherford), was also Baron of Cambridge.

In case anybody's interested, the full text of the Lords judgement is online. Even just a skim makes for interesting reading. That, and one of the dudes was Lord Brown of Eaton-under-Heywood. Does David have anything to say about that?
Also, I can't find an interweb reference for this, but I'm sure it was on nine-to-noon this morning, but I believe someone said Margaret Bain left the house late the night before, withdrew all the cash she could from the joint account, and put it in her own account. That's right up there with burning the house down really.

Perhaps the manager thought they could get an 18 year old who was a) cuter, and b) cheaper to pay...

Incidentally, the ODdiTy reported her age this morning as 36

There's another great souvlaki joint on Riccarton Road: Nomads.
School (and other) trips often ended with a stop at Micky Dees in Riccarton before the long trip home. Eventually, we managed to tame various trip leaders into letting us run the few blocks down to Nomads, and the bus would stop to pick us up on the way out of town. The vast majority were puzzled at why anyone didn't want to get a Big Mac.
Nomads is still there; I managed to refresh my acquaintance recently :) -
a few of you don't like Subway because they offer you the option to customise your sandwhich
I guess it depends whether you consider deciding between plastic chicken, plastic turkey, and plastic cheese is "choice". It's certainly "choice", in an sarcastic 80s meaning of "choice" way.
Souvlaki anyone? -
I think the Listener has being going downhill for longer than the last year or so. I have fond recollections of reading it as a kid, when it was in a bigger format with longer articles. They're all short, twee, and populist stories now.
Both my parents and my grandparents have always talked in revered terms about Holcroft's editorials.

Oh well, if it's not texting or BeBo, then the msm will be back on myspace. And lo, apparently out of control gatecrashers are a problem for Annie Lennox's daughter, not just the good residents of The Flatlands.
