  • Hard News: Do Want?,

I sure hope someone comes out with a bracket so I can mount my iPad on my Segway handle bars.

  • Hard News: A Strange Surprise,

Steve, if you're gonna post a Remi Gaillard video game reinactment stunt, perhaps this one would be more appropriate to the topic at hand:

  • Hard News: A Strange Surprise,

Being Friday, are we allowed to do the usual and embed fabulous YouTube clips?

Because if you're not one of the over 3.5 million people who have viewed this in the last 3 days, you damn well should be!

    ^
I recommend it be watched it in widescreen and full definition.

Disney (who now own The Muppets) seem to have them back on course, and with a lot of stuff planned for the next year.

  • Cracker: Home & Away,

I guess the Yarra Valley is too far out of Melbourne to travel? If not the fresh cheeses at the Yarra Valley Dairy are to die for.

Some good plonk round there too...

  • Hard News: The new wave,

What I find odd / disappointing is that using GeoNet, it's clear NZ has been getting the waves for the last 6 hours or so (7:15pm now), and we're still getting unusual fluctuations on the East Cape & Northland, yet all the TV News reports I saw were making out like the whole thing was over by midday.

  • Cracker: A Good Week,

I've been walking in the Waitakeres Ark In The Park in the Cascades area almost daily since my youngest started school 2 weeks back before starting work (I drive past it between Waitakere Primary & home). Been trying to spot or even hear a Kokako, of course (there are 5 in there now, with another 4 to be released this week and up to 30 in the long term).

No luck yet, nor have I been able to spot a stichbird. I do wish someone would knock off all the damn sulphur-crested cockatoos that have taken over. Bloody loudmouth Aussies.

There are a pair of North Island Robins who I spot almost every time in the same general area on the Auckland City Walk, and are the most gorgeous, friendly little critters you'd ever want to see. So my vote has gone to the Robin.

Pukeko are so bloody commercial now too, on plates, cups, ceramic ones for the garden, stuffed toys. Overexposed, they are. Had their day in the sun. Sell outs.

    Also, congratulations on the engagement!

  • Hard News: Where the crazy comes from,

    Got an email from Tivo today - and it sure reads like you have to be on Telecom to use the product;

We know that many of you have been patiently waiting for TiVo to arrive in New Zealand, having registered with us as early as March this year.

One of the main reasons we have not revealed our retail plan is because we understand how important it is for you to be able to download our movies and TV content through your broadband connection without it impacting your monthly download allowance.

So we're delighted to tell you that Telecom have agreed to give everyone with a Telecom Broadband connection the freedom to download our movies and TV content through their broadband, without it impacting their monthly data allowance.

When you registered, you told us that you aren't currently a Telecom Broadband customer. Please be aware that TiVo will be available only through Telecom when it goes on sale in November and the whole TiVo service will only be available to Telecom broadband customers.

To ensure you're ready when TiVo goes on sale in November, why not take up Telecom's current broadband offer of a free wireless modem plus one month's free broadband plan charges? See here for all the details www.telecom.co.nz/broadband/offer.

Thanks again you for your interest, we'll keep sending you all the latest information and updates on all things TiVo

If by 'whole service only on telecom' they mean that partial service (ie. the EPG) is still available via other ISPs they've done a lousy job of communicating it.
