  • Hard News: Conscious Party,

No, only one break; two parts.

Ok, I get that theres a "mistake" and the third part of the podcast is bogus.....

But the first part is 2:31 long, and the second is 9.05...

I'm assuming something is missing rather than the program's been shortened :)

  • Hard News: Need to Know,

(A disturbing proportion of which I predicted before reading the Herald this morning. Which I'm not proud of.)

Not proud of your predictive abilities, or not proud of reading the Herald?

  • Hard News: Need to Know,

My understanding is that Peters not being a minister would not in and of itself cause failure....

But a spurned Peters /NZ First is highly likely to decide to withdraw from the coalition.... which would.

  • Hard News: Conscious Party,

It's all very well for you, but what will the young rockers do?

It's my party and I'll..... let in who I choose..... maybe the young rockers will be there? (probably not)

Actually, it's just occurred to me that seeing as the location is rented from a quasi-government public body (Auck regional parks)..... if they wanted the venue they'd probably gazzump my booking and turf me out.... then it would be WTF am I going to do? Then I'd be crying.

  • Hard News: Need to Know,

What I found telling, was not where Peters was disagreeing with Glenn, but where he was contradicting what he'd previously said himself...

Lets go back a week or two...
Glen " I met Mr Peters at karaka sales in 2006"
Peters "no you didnt, that was 2007"

Now, apparently Peters admits he was at a table with Mr Glen in 2006, but it was a large table and there were many people.

  • Hard News: Conscious Party,

I already booked my Auckland hall for Nov 8th, what with me turning 40 and all...

Live Music, BBQ and no TV reception or interweb... I'll be oblivious to the election results.... and not just because of the alcohol. :)

  • Stories: The Internet,

I do like the idea of still being able to go places where you can escape the broadcast technologies and the Internet. In theory.

I think it would be nice if anyone who wanted to connect or be contactable was able to.... no matter how small or distant their location.

I can go to my happy un-contactable not connected place any time and anywhere I choose.... I have this special thing on my toys called an off button.

  • Hard News: The Spiral of Events,

John Key meeting Lord Ashcroft.... mildly interesting and completely in keeping with both men's roles, as Craig suggests...

So, why did it get headline billing? Because Key tried to play tricks....

Duncan Garner, "John, have you just had a meeting with Lord Ascroft?"

John Key, "I beleive someone from the party met with him."

DG, "Was that someone, in fact you?"

    JK, "Erm,,,,, Yes, it was"

Why did John try and squirm out of it? He should have front footed it. "Yes I did, and it was completley above board, he's the head of the blah blah blah...." It would have been a complete non-story.

It was news because of JK's response.... (still shouldnt have been headline news, but.)

*** (the above "transcript" is from my memory. I dont claim perfect recall, but I do beliive it is a fair representation)

  • Hard News: National Exuberance,

BTW... my post above was simply what I see as one argument in the USA's favour.... not that it makes the entire decision done and dusted.

Mathew Poole makes some good arguments as to why it's not so simple...
