  • Southerly: One Hundred and Thirty-one…, in reply to Steve Barnes,

So, helmets for car passengers too?. Now who is going to get sniggered at?.

I remember a bloke in Auckland way back in the early 70s who drove around with a helmet on in his car, he insisted his passengers wore one to. He even made TV and the newspaper. Treated as a queer prick.

Ahead of his time?? And from a previous comment .....Autistic??

I can't help thinking that if you ride sitting up (a la Copenhagen video) then the chance of heading south onto your head may be reduced.

The sad thing about Hayward, being an engineering sciency type of guy, is that he searches out evidence and demands it be used to justify policy decisions.

He's number two of a soon to be growing crowd hopefully.

One good thing about not learning to ride a bike. You will never forget how to fall off!

  • Field Theory: Gruts,

I have found a use for silky boxers. As long as the leg is long enough though.

That is, for riding motorcycles long distances while wearing jeans. Jeans have a tendency to cling to the bum skin and it becomes quite uncomfortable. Add a bit of hot weather and it is truly torture. I tried the silky boxers for a laugh and have never looked back!!! The arse slips around inside no probs. Recommended!!!

  • Field Theory: Gruts, in reply to Hadyn Green,

Bingo. Found that in my last post too!!! Always worrying if I grabbed something that it would turn up on the subsequent pasting. 'Cos inbetween times you might have read something that distracted you and forgot it like!!!

    Oops..forgot..

    Why left?

...........it was something about the tailoring of trou. BUt i think he was trying to...um...educate me.

Heh. I remember a Tony Hancock piece years ago where he went to the tailor anf he was asked "How do you dress"....you can imagine the answer, "Knickers, socks, shirt...etc" Must see if i can find it.

  • Field Theory: Gruts,

In the "scanty" type. I have taken to wearing one size bigger than what used to "fit". He is right. The bollocks do get itchy and scratchy if they gird them too high. I bought a pair of boxer ones "just like our hero No 10" (Sheeez - $25!! Never spent more that $15 for 3 pair before) but I find the dangling bit seems to disappear down the left leg with a mind of it's own. It makes me feel so insecure. (My Dad told me to dress to the left)

  • Southerly: One Hundred and Thirty-one…, in reply to Geoff Lealand,

When I was at Canterbury uni, there was a tradition of powered cycles which looked like they had a motor mower strapped to the front wheel. Are these still around?

Yup. I picked one up from the tip last year. It was in the re-cycle (ahem) place and I politely asked what would happen if i nicked it. "Only if you are quick". ....I was quick. Needs a bit of TLC to get it going. Sachs model.
