  • Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to Christopher Dempsey,

And it scares the living shit out of me too. Apologies for not saying things politely as some obviously think I could. I'm not made that way obviously as I can't write poetry. But I still care. Deeply and with feeling. This will be offically a National Disaster in a couple of hours. We know we are all preparing for a substantial number of deaths. If having the number slowly increase satisfies people then let it be.

Sorry Craig, I was talking about the police getting real. Not us this time. But one has to think what the world will see when the death count starts dropping. For all of us we don't know who we know have gone but hiding the numbers for bureaucracy's sake seems very strange to me. There has to be a morgue being set up somewhere so the number of bodies being placed there is a number worth knowing. Surely. Said extremely sympathetically.

Edit after reading Davids Guardian. That Bob is going to be a handful. I hope he remembers it for his lifetime. Maybe he knows Playcentre is heaps better than Kindergarten......

So we have 32 dead but 65+++++ bodies......But we have 32 dead.

Get a grip guys. Police even anounce how many die in a car crash before they are identified.

Please come back to reality. Please.

This is no longer a case of NIMBY. If there is ever a time to listen to Earthquake Engineers and their thoughts on what buildings should be rebuilt, pulled down or the rejection of plans for houses on the edge and sides of precipices then it will need to be from now on. Wellington must take heed. Christchurch wasn't even on the bloody big faultline......Single story workplaces all of a sudden appear to be VERY attractive. Stuff the view.

Look after yourselves. Check in tomorrow.

    Thoughts......lots of them....lucky.....mixed....scary...lucky....

    65.... 200....400.

Three numbers have emerged this evening on TV. I suspect it will no doubt will be NZ's worst disaster. They say 125 have been rescued. There will be more. But they won't all be alive.

I am not being flippant but please, soak it up folks. Blood as well. This IS the reality of earthquakes. The Sept 4th one was truly an "unusual" event with no deaths. There was no dodging the bullet in this one. We ALL need to understand that the reality of natural catastrophies, with people close by, is death and destruction. I would counsel all to consider how you you would cope when (not if) it happens to you. It is well worth the effort. Check out the Pyne Gould building 233 Cambridge Tce on Google Maps. It was as it is in the road photo at 12:30pm today. And compare to the Stuff photo of it.

My family too is slowly being picked up via txt and messages. Imagine what it would be like even 10 years ago. It would take days to find that out. We are lucky to have such second to second communications.

So....I wonder who this is REALLY aimed at huh? Right off the acknowledgement page.

Grow up and seek your destiny and stretch forth your hands for the tools of the western world to sustain you.
Turn your heart to the treasures of your ancestors, your plumage,
and place your spirit unto God to whom all things belong.

  • Hard News: Gaying Out,

Religions, whatever one may think of them (and I am an agnostic myself), are not simply brands or franchises like utility companies.

They should be, then we could sue them for false pretences. Fail to see why they should be given "protection" merely for being labeled so.
