  • Craig Ranapia,

On the other hand the Colarado governor results are awesome.

Also looking like Lisa Murkowski might see off the Palin-endorsed Tea Bagger who beat her in the primary. Going to take a while before we know for sure though -- and its shaping up to make Florida 2K look like a civil disagreement over who ordered the second bottle of wine with dinner...

Yes, the Murkowskis are an eye-wateringly squalid clan but Joe Miller is even worse. I'm not exactly a fan of abortion on demand, but I draw the line at forcing victims of rape and incest to bear their abuser's children.

  • Craig Ranapia,

Also rather cheering to see a shameful Tea Bagger twatcock like Carl Paladino not only got his arse kicked hard, but managed to make his concession even more bizarre and ugly than his campaign:

Remember, this was the man who was going to use eminent domain to stop the so-called 'Ground Zero mosque' (which was none of the above). Because Tea Baggers like private property rights and keeping the government out of the business of citizens -- unless you're Muslim. Nice to see the people of New York state weren't buying...

From the weird-out-of-left-field file, Mike Riversdale tweeted:

Is this for real, "Did somebody just try to buy the British government?" (Buzz link as the orig seems overloaded)

    I mean, wha?

[edit] Oh edit button, how I love thee.

I was thinking "OMFG, James Gandolfini call your agent". Shame he's already done a project called God of Carnage because that would be a great title for an epic Ken Burns-style docu-drama about the Tea Baggers.

And Hopi Sen has blogged it and copied it in the Guardian.

I'm concurring with David - this appears to be the OITC, but oh! how I would love it to be the Vatican! :-D

Ah. Here's the first tricky moment for the GOP.

The authentically batshit Teabagger Michelle Bachmann is pushing for a House leadership post.

She could be really embarrassing if she gets her way, and vengeful if she doesn't.

Ah, yes... This woman who pulled a $200 million a day state visit to India out of her arse. (H/T @publicaddress via Twitter)

Bachmann-Bullshit Overdrive is functionally brain-dead (zombie!) or a stone cold liar (bad seed!). Either way, she shouldn't be allowed a leadership position at a kindergarten cake stall.

  • Andre Alessi,

You know, I've been following the "Obama's $200 million dollars a day trip to a place with foreigners!" news story since yesterday and I still don't understand why Bachmann would try to push it. It's so blatantly unbelievable it can't possibly be intended to be accepted by anyone except those that make up the crazification factor.

It's like she's starting off pitched way too high. Anything they allege during the next two years (Omaba has a secret Muslim anchor baby in France, Nancy Pelosi eats the hearts of Christian children for brunch, Joe Biden likes tofu, etc) will seem like small change in comparison. She's either trying to force Steel and Boehner to start impeachment proceedings, or else they think that they'll have something really juicy to use as ammunition in six months' time.

My favourite freakout is still the theory that Obama is Malcom X's love child though. That one's a doozy.

Where does she rate on the Palin Scale? If Sarah Palin is the benchmark at 1.0, I'd wager Bachmann rates a 1.7.

To measure the insanity of Bachmann you take 1 Palin, multiply by 27 3/16, divide by pi cubed over mc2 then throw yourself in front of a bus.

I gather Fox News has been airing it like a true thing.

I'm sure they don't really believe a state visit is costing more per day than the entire Afghanistan war -- but their credulous viewers will be suitably enthralled.

FWIW, the best guess seems to be that Bachmann got hold of a figure in rupees (200m rupees = $US4.5m) and was too goddamn stupid and/or crazy to convert it.

I can't believe they've only spent $200 million on the war in Afghanistan...
    seems like a bargain.
