  • Russell Brown,

Yup. It's not edgy, just lame.*

    * I am, however, willing to testify that that it's the edgiest thing ever if there's some free tickets in it.

  • Kate Hannah,

Oh hear hear! as a non-fan, your previous pieces about just having fun with it have enticed me to get tix for the whole family to an early pool game, Wales vs Samoa (to make my Welsh grandmother proud, and cause at least the singing will be good), and generally do exactly what you state above

having fun in the various places that have games

We're heading in to Party Central on the 9th to witness the powhiri, the arriving waka and the music - as part of great party New Zealand is throwing for us and the rest of the world. The whole no shagging thing has me confused, and I have to say, a bit worried about all those kids who are very into the RWC - how are we supposed to explain all that to them? Not quite like the red socks campaign when you think of it like that, eh Saatchis?

ooh that actually hadn't occurred to me Russell. Plus one here for that - I'd send my 90 year old rugby-mad Welsh grandmother and her equally rugby-mad gentleman caller .... in fact, if that little vignette doesn't score two elderly people tickets, there's something wrong with the world.....

OMG, it's like the Master of My Domain episode!

That's awesome! And exactly what I hope people will do, because this is never happening here again.

I was thinking someone needs to find that bastard with the white can and burn it - obviously he's been using it to jinx the ABs from afar with voodoo witchery!

Presumably not the people briskly informing me via Twitter that way more people go to some or other event in some other country. I don't get the relentless negativity, I really don't.

  • Emma Hart,

What's really... something, is that the stuff they didn't get through was Even Worse. Yes, I'm talking about the urinal ads. The fuck. "Edgy" apparently now means "offensive, but not funny".

It's even more embarrassing when you compare Saatchi's efforts with the quality of the Creative on Twitter this morning.

not actually be a plan to keep those good-looking bastards from Ireland coming here and taking our women-folk

There's a way of stopping that? There better bloody not be.

I'm just wondering how anyone would explain to anyone Sean Fitzpatrick in a tux riding a fistmobile.

That's the only possible upside of this: making it into The Contest.

    I'm out!!!

  • Hadyn Green,

It seems this was an unplanned pre-launch leak. Which may mean that someone has spoiled a joke. Which is a bit stink (especially if you've paid a lot of money for a pimped-out fist-mobile)

This whole thing will be worthwhile if your name ends up associated with the top Google hit for the phrase "pimped-out fist-mobile".

    Oh, and mine too, now.

This promotion is at serious risk of alienating (or at least depressing) members of society who are going through a bit of a dry spell.

For definitions of the "Rest Of The World" that exclude China, India, 44/50 European countries, everywhere in Asia except Japan, everywhere in South America except Argentina and everywhere in Africa besides South Africa and Namibia.

Alternatively, it might flush out all the non-black-rubber-ring-wearers.

Really that thing has to be a photoshopped joke, doesn't it?

I mean a black ring on a big pink fist? With an ex-All Black riding it. I'm not sure even Emma could have come up with something that full of innuendo.

  • LegBreak,

I’m also looking forward to the RWC; once it starts.

But I just wish it had been kept a bit simpler. The Waterfront stadium saga, Feelers songs everywhere, the tupperwaka, Adidas counting down clocks, posters in urinals that actually are quite offensive, turning Ohakune’s carrot into a black dildo etc...

Hadyn and I are working on the RWC nipple clamps.

Its not only lame, its not good science. I'm sure Wilhelm Reich would suggest the opposite if we wish to generate the energy to pull this off. sorry about the plagerising your pun

Well said, so tired of these greedy corporates and douche bag advertising and marketing execs hijacking our game...Will wait and see the whole idea behind it, but at this stage it just looks stupid and potentially awkward for what is supposed to be family entertainment. Maybe the NZRFU should bring in a clause saying sponsors tie in advertising campaigns must first be run passed Colin Meads. Would keep them simple.
