Does anyone else feel this is Rons Crusade to plicate his actions as an adult on a 15yr old girl by saying she was old enough?
And if so is there something really scary we don't want to know about his drive for criminal liability to be U/14yrs?

Robin, I cannot agree with you. I received the strap - six of the best on my hands when I was 12 years old at Naenae Intermediate in 1961. I throughly deserved it as I had been following a Special Needs Pupil with Down's Syndrome and imitating his lumbering gait. The duty teacher found me and got me to go to the cloakroom between two of the classrooms and await his arrival. Yes I was scared but as I have said I throughly deserved the punishment as my behaviour was despicable.

Not quite sure why this thread has suddenly sparked into life after 6 years but two comments:
-Very pleased that a child with Down Syndrome was actually at a state school in 1961 and not in an institution or excluded from education
-Wouldn't a punishment that helped you see the humanity of your fellow student have been more effective than infliction of physical pain and a violent demonstration of the power adults have over children in their care? For example you could have been assigned to be his buddy, or something else that might have facilitated friendship rather than fear.
