I was a little disappointed that they'd fenced off the lake. From looking at the BDO map beforehand, I'd hoped that we could sit by the water and listen to the music. I guess they'd have to install security in the water to catch punters swimming into the BDO without paying.

They did actually hire in some surf lifesavers from Muriwai.

The Hives frontman had real issues with those balls. He was pretty keen for the crowd view of him not to obstructed (the dude is so rock n roll)

I had my own grumble about MTV and their obstructionist practices. We had a good view of Pearl Jam from the terraces until they raised their platform and completely obscured it.

The Hives were awesome. I think if we can't have a laugh at our national Tolkein infatuation we aren't much of a country.
