Bird of paradise, slightly the worse for wear
Hang on. I recognise that dissolute insouciance, didn't he used to play guitar in Hello Sailor or summoneorudder like that?

Indeed - you can read the settings on her lens, looking straight back into yours!

Ka nui te pai!
Note how it is using one wing as a brace against the branch-
Some of our birdlife is basically 4-footed- -

I'd actually be focusing the camera in on a bellbird that had been on the branch, when the Tui swooped down with everything extended and chased the bellbird off, so I took the shot. I said to my daughter "if that is in focus it is going to be a great picture"- I didn't know at the time if I had gotten the Tui all stretched out in the few moments before it moved again.

(I _think_ it is a young Brown Creeper, Pipipi, but am really not sure)
I'd agree with you, and about not being absolutely sure too, without the additional matters of being in a small flock, calls etc. I'm not familiar with sub-adults up close, and haven't seen any for a while (they being absent from the North Island and all).
