  • Christopher Dempsey,

A guideline, rule if you please: A picture of a sunrise can only be followed by a picture of a sunset, NOT a picture of a sunrise.

Multiple sunrises / sets just confuse the hell out of pagans like me.

AND, autumn colours to be followed by winter, thence progress to spring before glorious summer.

Am editing at the moment so structure is top of mind

I'm going to ignore that rule in favour of a weird (though not especially colourful) twilight at the reservoir in Highland Park.

I have no idea what we're up to. So you decide.

    turn, turn, turn...

    Good times, Pt Chev.

Excellent photo of a Masai tribesman, carrying a shield and arrows, spearing some hapless ichthyological strand dweller - Pt Chev is so-oo cosmopolitan!

I have no idea what we’re up to.
    So you decide.

Judging by the red shift. tide levels and westerly location, I'm going with sunset...
    you crepuscular crazy, you...

If I'm not mistaken, complete with sundog to the left. Nice.

    Do you? Many wouldn’t ;-)

Just enjoying This corrosion you posted in t’other thread. Wow, gave me major 80s flashbacks! Did you ever hear the Sisters of Mercy cover Jolene? That’s one of my favourites. It’s the coldly cynical way they do it.

Yes I had, and now I have again, thanks. Wonder what the chances are of them playing this next February (Checks) The 22nd! Cripes, that's... something.

Might be an odd way to mark the anniversary of #chch #eqnz. Then again, maybe not.

    Tour been cancelled :-(

The 22nd September one was, but they rebooked for 22nd Feb. As far as I know, this one is still on.

If they cancelled twice, that would be... annoying.

Thinking about it, maybe we could host a big party for you all in Auckland, just to distract you, sort of? We could probably think of something a bit more uplifting than Sisters of Mercy though.

Or even better we could all go down there while you're up here, and go to a Feelers concert. It seems only fair.

I was thinking maybe I could glue that page shut in my diary and go straight from the 21st to the 23rd. But your idea sounds much more fun. :-)

A daytime shot, just for variety! Taken from the Rangitoto ferry in April. It was a clear sunny morning, and it struck me how different the light is in Auckland; you never get this soft milky light in the South Island. Down here on a clear day the sky is a hard enamel blue. I'm guessing it's the humidity that gives the gentle haze.
