I had a walk on Sumner beach last night. I found lots of blue sky, and it wasn’t always above me…

Oh nice clouds, Russell! I love how it looks like the tree has scraped a clear patch. :-)

Here's one without the HDR effect. I like the way that Robyn has given us a theme that makes pics that previously didn't quite work relevant.

    Wellington blues.

    Can I say that?

    +1. ;-)

  • Islander, in reply to Sara Bee,

Actually, as a colour literalist, that pink is graded largely white...

one of the things about being blind (largely) in one eye, is - you (if you're my kind of person, artist etc.)you really intimately KNOW colours.

    I can feel them.
I smell them. ( For this I have to print them off - and wait until the actual ink odour fades-)

I can touch a fabric & know (eyes closed/in the dark) whether it is light or dark...

    Good Otago colours!
Here too. Wireless is all that's needed for communications at Styx, beyond the Maniatoto.

Richard Langston had an excellent 17 min interview with Brian Turner on radio this Sunday Morning, including his reading three short poems. "Crypt" towards the end of those 17 mins ending with "enabling us to see into the blue crypt beyond" - and subsequent discussion of this and the aura of infinity around blue, blue skies and Central Otago blue skies.

Brought to mind (many things, but in particular) this image of mainly the blue sky at Styx. Much better than Stygian black?

It stays like this for months. Eventually everything is browner than a Waikato farm...

For the moment though, it's very pleasant. Out of frame, some wonderful friends.

More Nelson blues, from earlier in the month.

I didn't bother crossing mine in the end. I was going to try poking a hole in the bottom of a paper cup and using that as a pipe-y thing, having not found anything more suitable, but I wound up spending far too much time and energy swapping over the covers on the wee one's car seat so the old one could be washed. Whoever assembles those things in the factory in Germany must have fingers as thin as mine and muscles as huge as Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime. Also couldn't find currants, so put raisins and blueberries instead. But who cares? The punters were happy, and the wee one loves picking the raisins and blueberries out.

That's what matters Chris, happy punters! They look pretty good from here too. My crosses are always rather slap-dash, i drape the gooey dough over the bun with a teaspoon, sometimes you can just about see bun through the cross. We'll see, better get on to it....
