Are those on a wall Sofie, or in paintings you have?
Hey J, a friend (yes, yes,I have another one :) is promoting urban art around Soho Square, up on Williamson Ave in the Ponse. I even think some is the group Cut Collective but not sure if that was theirs but might be as they fit with their style. If anyone is interested ,pop into The French Art Shop on Ponsonby Rd, ask for Mark. The walls around the Square are big and deserve painting. I think it is being auctioned for charity once it’s finished. Here is more….

Ok, having wracked my brains I have to ask. What is a Perhaps Hand?

Love that one with the path between the pohutukawas - makes me want to take a walk along it! Reminded me of Karl Maughan's work - found this piece that says he's involved so maybe it was.

periwinkle
Those grew wild at my primary school (St Joseph's Takapuna, in the 70s). We used to pull apart the flowers to get at the "fairy toothbrush", but I don't remember doing anything with them once we got them.

Thanks Venetia. I thought it looked like Dan Tippet's work. That's who I was thinking of. We have a hibiscus flower of his on our wall.

Yes, that is his. I should add that Mark at TFAS is giving the Artists paint so it is a community spirited adventure. Permission is required to participate, so go chat with Mark if anybody wants to get involved.

I got a C in my paper on the meaning of an e.e. cummings poem, so I suggest you ask someone else.
Considering he is my favorite poet OF ALL TIME, and this was in 1986, I'm pretty much over it by now. Just a few more sessions and I should be fine.

“fairy toothbrush”
I'll have to go back to look at the fairy toothbrush! Funnily enough this Periwinkle was just up from Takapuna Beach.

I don't think you can hope for a cure, once cummings is in your head. :-)
Although I've found a Ted Hughes obsession is a good distraction... -

I used to find the "fairy icecream".

While e.e.cummings is not my favourite poet of all time, I've found reading Emily Dickinson out loud is a certain cure for his eye/ear-worminess...
Irrelevancy - as a kid I loved the the taste of oxalis. This love has not kept up in adulthood.

Gosh. Do you remember what it tastes like? :-)
-
Islander, in reply to
Acidically sour - we used to chew the stems. Dunno what especial taste I thought I was missing then, but I had enough mildly acidically sour in my diet as an adult-
-
-
Probably oxalic acid? Same thing that's in rhubarb, as I recall. Strong stuff!

That's a very in-your-face flower!
reminds me in an odd sort of way of my cat first thing in the morning.

Flying pukeko, contre-jour…
Jos, that is a superb shot. I think that will be my wallpaper now!
I remember being quite put off a NZ novel that describes a pukeko waving its "stubby blue flightless wings"
They are neither stubby, nor flightless, nor blue!!

and a white baiter waiting
We're waiting for a wee while yet...off the river...I'll just keep on gnawing loopies...
-
Jos,
Cheers lilith, that one was certainly going for it.
Loopies Islander?

Tourists, Jos.
I lure them away to my beach umukai & after smoking ’em, then hangi-steam ’em for o- depending on the amount of clothing/cameragear/etcetera- about 7 hours. It’s the bones I gnaw on- all the rest is deliciously succulent-yep, accoutrements & all!
Umukai can cook *anything!* -
