Wow leigh, what a good idea! I tend to just use leaves picked from the plant in cheese sandwiches or under tuna on toast, never thought of them as a vegetable, I imagine they would be amazing instead of silverbeet in a shepherd's pie!
:)My new lot of carrots have just been thinned with the small ones making a wonderful addition to a stew!

My favourite thing with rocket is cheese and beetroot sandwiches. But Leigh has converted me somewhat to using it as a cooked green - then it doesn't matter if it's not a tender young shoot.

You're quite right about using rocket in stews and such - it's very tasty.
By the way, it's my firm belief that mint is nearly as overlooked as rocket in terms of its value in the kitchen. Try a generous amount of that in your next cheese and tomato sandwich, and I just know you will crow with delight! And I have a superb recipe for gooseberries which includes cooking them up with mint. I call it Gooseberry-licious.
I envy you the mild climate up there for gardening ventures, but do enjoy Otago's weather in other ways.

This little charmer showed its tiny face to me for the first time last week. It's a miniature iris and was given to me by a dear friend - I had no idea what to expect. It's face measures perhaps a couple of inches across.

Actually, Jos, I just can't persuade my eyes to go 3D on your shots. I think I almost got it with the last one you posted, but not quite. Probably just my eyes, though, there's been many a similar ocular trick I've failed at.

Chris - are you short-sighted? Even wearing corrective lenses (one of mine is implanted) you just cant get the 3D/stereoscopic effect-
