The Artstation Darkroom is in an old prison cell block. It's spookily cool.

Some old pinhole stuff from Aucklander John Henry. The images are unfortunately rather small, but having seen some as exhibition prints back in the day I was struck by the remarkable level of detail. The Eiffel tower in particular is a marvellous demonstration of the precision pinhole's ability to achieve infinite depth of field.

The picture above was made by drilling a small hole part way through a standard Canon DSLR Body Cover, and then pushing the last bit with a pin. You then work out the exposure by trial and error.
In this case ISO 200, at 6 seconds.
The hole is a bit big, otherwise it would be sharper I think.
You can also buy them, apparently.

Where does one get "Photo sensitive paper" these days?
I remember it from when I was a kid, I think it was some sort of copier paper from a now defunked photo copier process. We used to do pinhole camera stuff with it at school. -
Don't some cameras have a pinhole mode? Anyone using that with much success?
Have to say I would love to join in (not that I can get to the workshop or have a darkroom, come to think of it) but it would be great to make a pinhole camera.
I'm tempted by these paper cameras but might end up with a hole in the DLSR body cap too!

A slight variation on the DSLR cap theme - drill a decent sized hole in it and then tape some foil over it. You can then make a small pinhole in the foil. This will allow you to play round with the size of the hole to get the best result.

Thanks Phil. Yes, I’ve been thinking of retro-fitting the body cover with some foil or aluminium.
One thing it does allow is to experiment with exposures and perfecting the pinhole size.

We plan to use Ilford Mutli-grade paper. There’s some good write ups on using it for Pinhole photography.

Those paper cameras are truly awesome. I might need to get one (or two) to play with on the day. They’d make a cool artwork too.

Had a play today with a hole in tinfoil over a body cap on my dslr camera, amazed how well my first attempt worked out, I'm going to investigate needle sizes...

I'm going to make a better version of my earlier attempt too. We're doing a test run this Saturday, where I'm hoping to try out my new iPhone camera. I mean iPhone box camera.
Should be fun.

Corner Ponsonby, Crummer Road. 15 secs in the sunlight.
We tried out the darkroom, and two pinhole camera concepts today. Both worked pretty much as well as we could hope. Photo above taken on the iPhone Box camera as described earlier.
The streaking is a bus passing, and the odd car, during the 15 secs.

Auckland Girls' Grammar. 35secs. Overexposed on one side, and under on the other. Might re-shoot this next time, as seems like a good subject.

Auckland Camera used to bring these (or similar) in. But demand wasn't high apparently. Can't imagine why they're not flying off the shelves myself.
By the way, your multi-pinhole images have been admired by others. Although they don't post on here yet. The numbers one in particular. How esle would you do that without using photoshop? Hours of fun.

Indoor shot. 10min exposure.
The orginal print on paper (bottom) looked too underexposed, but after scanning there was way more detail than I expected.
Paper as negative is quite a new experience for me, but it is an interesting medium to play with.
