I don't get it (yet), quite possible aren't supposed to, but damn it's still awesome seeing the younglings doing their thing and, as far as I can tell, doing it well. If I ever turn into You Kids Are Doing It All Wrong Guy, someone just take me out behind the barn and put me to sleep. It will be a kindness. :)

As long as they stay off my grass, there's room for everyone ;-)

I really wish I had a v log and an audience when I was an adolescent but I'm really glad I didn't.

Oh man, I'd have been unstoppable with today's tools ...

This is what should be being used in Health and sexuality education programmes in schools

A perennial 'let's all give thanks' amongst my social circle is: 'I'm really glad there wasn't any social media back when we young and (extremely) stupid'. I'm glad I did the shit I did, and I'm even more glad the direct audience was usually limited to a maximum of around seven people I knew.

A really interesting episode of Media Take. I know of a couple of teachers who will be using it.
I know that it places me at odds with the greater mass of population but I do hate selfie-sticks. When we were travelling about in Europe over summer, there were times I wished I was carrying a pair of bolt-cutters. Their pervasive use ('look at me and some old building behind me') reminds me of the moronic hordes who gather before the Mona Lisa in The Louvre, and take very bad photos of a surprisingly small painting. -
I put it to them that there’s a Freaks and Geeks character to what they do, and Liam said: “I don’t understand the question.” Of course.
Seriously!? Am I to feel happy that I am part of the club that happily gets the reference to the amazing show or sad that it's not universally known?

It just means you're old, man.

I know, I know... *sigh* - but you don't have to say that with so much relish! Anyway, it's their loss!

It would also be straightforward to have software that superimposes a selected random image of oneself over every regular image as it's saved, thus making every piccy a selfie.

Apparently Disney has banned selfie sticks from its U.S. theme parks

Heh - I like that concept. A button in Picasa (or whatever) to "Make Selfie" which would take a prepared image of your self (ie a nice one) and place it in the foreground of the current shot.
