  • Craig Ranapia,

Being entirely superficial: The Doctor Who Christmas special was awesome. Steven Moffat is a mad, sentimental bastard, and while Prime at least made an effort (we got The Next Doctor on Christmas Day) it would have been nice if they could have cut a deal with the Beeb...

I'll admit to thinking that yes, it was pretty cute. Although, I was told to "please stop asking questions". Despite having been won over by y'all and your mad Dr Who love, I still haven't got to the point where I don't ask questions I'm not supposed to ask.

Still, not the coolest Dr Who-related thing you've seen this year, right, Craig, my love?

  • Russell Brown,

On another note, we’ve found the Cem Erbay story pretty distressing.

Cem and his mother, Sharon, lived a few doors down from us for a while and Cem and Jimmy went to school together even before that. I used to take him and my boys playing. We’d do time trials on bikes and scooters on the path through Meola Reserve.

He was a lovely kid; his natural exuberance carefully kept within bounds by Sharon. I know the diagnosis of his heart condition was hard for him – I’ve never met a more naturally athletic child – but he moved on. It just breaks my heart that Sharon should have done such a wonderful job of raising her only son into a young man only to have him taken away like this.

It’s OK to ask questions in the commercial break, or afterwards. It’s not OK to talk during the programme, unless the house is actually burning down. Giggling is also not permitted. It’s OK to gasp with wonder, though. :-)

But wow, total kudos for the knitted daleks. And I thought the gingerbread TARDIS was cool…but wooly exterminators, oh yes!!!

Is 14.3 trillion dollars a lot of debt? What happens when a country defaults?

  • David Hood,

Well, my thought is that the Silly Season Doctor Who news section is well and truly won by David Tennant's engagement to Georgia Moffett (who is the daughter of Peter Davison) whom he met on the Doctor Who series.

That Gingerbread Tardis is pretty awesome. I am looking into knitted tardises. (Is that the plural? I have been sent a pattern for some Tardis socks.

Don't tell me, one size fits all? :-)

And BTW, I'm sure there is an untapped market for Who-themed lingerie. Don't you think?

    Or Dr Who nesting dolls.

(I should point out, I am really just getting inspiration for next year’s Christmas crafting.)

  • Craig Young,

Does anyone know whether one of the NZ networks has brought 'Christopher and His Friends,' the BBC feature that deals with Christopher Isherwood's Berlin phase and features Matt Smith (Doctor Eleven) as Chris I?

So you haven't quite been assimilated yet. Ah well, it won't happen overnight, but it will happen ;-)

Nah, I only ever watch when invited to by someone else, mostly. And I spend much of my time biting my tongue to refrain from mocking.

Glad I'm not the only one who finds that show absurdly over-rated.

Clearly you are feeling rather incite-ful this morning.

Dude! You are going to get me in trouble! That's not what I meant at all. Witness the knitted Daleks! I love Dr Who.

It's only a lot if it's your debt.
As for what happens if a country defaults, well, they have lots of guns and they also have nukes. I don't like the odds of anyone who tries to sic Baycorp onto them.

My bad. Although still not as bad as the show.

I see that one of my dearest friends' sons - also Pt Chev stalwarts - was friends with Cem at Western Springs', and onto University, and that Cem had just started working at the zoo with Matt. Seems like this will affect the whole community. So sad.

Yeah, it will. Another friend's daughter was among his many friends at Western Springs.

Aw, who the fuck wouldn't -- and I've got to say I've been far from impressed by the way the media have been pumping up the "Police are treating this as a suspicious death" angle, which might be technically correct, but still crass beyond belief. There's "silly season" and there's "please STFU until you people can prove your genome contains human DNA"...

Baycorp has till March to organise an armed escort when it serves its default notice then!

  • Kyle Matthews,

I believe before Baycorp gets involved the world bank gives you money on the basis that you restructure your whole economy and welfare system and your people riot in the streets.
