  • Tom Semmens,

I've never watched an episode of Shortland Street. I've never watched a single reality TV episode from start to finish.

I am sad at my sidelining from mainstream New Zealand.

You're missing out. If there is a more unexpectedly delightful unscripted character than Isaac from the Real World Sydney, I'd like to meet him. And possibly create a religion that worships him.

Also: currently obsessing over the Amazing Race Asia. The contestants *yell* so much less than in the US version. It's almost relaxing.

In 'quality' TV news, I have just finished watching season three of The Wire. I am practically Bubbles-like in my desire for the season four DVDs. It is SO GOOD.

(Obfeminist content: I blame the patriarchy.)

  • Robyn Gallagher,

Because my website has "Secret" in its title as well as a thing I wrote about Shortland Street (the street, not the TV show), over the last couple of months I've been getting all these referer hits from people who have googled stuff like "shortland street secrets".

Sadly I have nothing to reveal... on my website.

  • Tom Semmens,

Hang on, is the "Antique's Roadshow" and "Living in the Sun" reality T.V? Surely my flatmate lies?

And I do love Giuliana Rancic on E! news, and I am facinated by the way they all stand about like a giant wind machine is trying to blow them over from just off-camera :(

I do know there were some lesbians on shorty street, and one of the doctors is bonking a mum and a daughter or something?

  • GemmaG,

Joey, eh, Philip? You too, Fiona? Tell me why, go on. He seems too dorky to be a serial killer to me. I've been convincing myself it's Scotty due to his high morals, but the idea of a Bollywood Wedding Hui is too good not to run with...
In my wilder moments (when I'm not thinking about feminism all day long) it's Yvonne, though not sure how she managed to get all those bods into the skip...
In any case, I am quite excited that we, the viewer, find out who it is a good few months before the Shorty St staff do. Great potential for hammy Panto moments on the couch at home ("Behind you!" etc).

  • David Haywood,

What a bizarre co-incidence, GemmaG -- a few minutes ago I almost posted a video clip of you singing 'Haere Mai' at the Chelsea Hotel.

But, sorry to say, I bumped you for a nude ukulele duo singing 'Tiny Bubbles'...

  • Joanna,

I think Robyn has been only pretending to know. The clues she gave me (not spoilers, just clues) were all revealed in those three clips that were on YouTube, all of which were blatantly false (except for possibly Scotty, but I doubt that). So I'm backing Fiona in saying it's Joey. Although I've been saying that for years. It'd be fun for it to be a Callum/Justine duo though, and I wish they'd knock off their kids pretty quick smart too if that's the case...

  • GemmaG,

But WHY Joey?? What are the psychopathic theories that lie behind this...?

  • Robyn Gallagher,

A couple of weeks ago I was at a barbecue attented by a couple of friends of mine who work in television. We were talking about the killer and they both said something like, "Well, everyone knows it's [redacted]! Duh!"

I was disappointed, because sometimes it's nice to have a surprise.

  • Joanna,

Gemma: Joey has been "wronged" by all the dead girls, except perhaps Jay, who didn't date him either, so that might be a good reason to kill her. And when he started at the clinic he was nervous about his medical experience, now he's practiced on dead bodies he can step up in a crisis and do emergency thingies on motorways that are complicated. Plus it's always the quiet ones...

We should have pushed to get "[redacted]" as word of the year

Hmm... all very good analysis except for the Jay bit. I'm finding there's always an 'except'... except for Yvonne...

  • Joanna,

Hmm, maybe that's why Yvonne had to start her prayer group - to try and save her soul? I like it a lot.

How timely... Completely unrelated to any topic at hand on PAS , its still fun to read this simply because of how much "[redacted]" has been used...

  • Margaret,

I'm hoping for Lara Wade. But there are some good points in the Yvonne case according to a friend who is convinced:

Claire & Meg both slept with Mark - her son-in-law.
Beth dumped Steve (is it Steve? Creepy orderly guy?) who was friends with Yvonne.
    She hated Jay.

But probably Joey anyway. I'm so sad Tess has survived this far.

  • Fiona Rae,

Whoa, I was soooo right. Which either means I'm a complete genius or I've been watching too much TV for too long. I think the psychological aspect is that, as he said to Tania, he's confident when he's in his uniform, but really shy outside of work. Plus, Lara Wade alluded to some sort of abuse by his grandmother.

Another thing for next year – is Gerald secretly rich? He keeps on buying really expensive clothes.
