O bugger- I cant get over the hill that soon, and it's probably my last chance for this decade to meet *any* PAS people...
all best for the event (sob)

A Writerly Investigation
Partake of extremely excellent wine;
'Twill make you pre-orgasmic,
And hopefully then you will fail to divine
'Tis redundantly pleonasmic. -
It's another book launch -- but, of course, you don't have to buy a book.
You have to buy two books.
Badoom, tisch.

Not only is Glenn a lovely bloke and a top-notch interviewer (so much so that we stayed yarning to him for nearly an hour after the show), but he is also a genuine radio innovator.
Oddly you've forgotten to mention how cute he is. Though I guess people can see it for themselves. It just seemed wrong not to point it out.

Any chance of an appearance in Dunedin, David ?
-
I second Grant McDougall's enquiry - I'm south way more often than I'm in CHCH...
(O, and David - Ana Hato CDs ready to roll -) -
yes well... we've been waiting (im)patiently for so long now it would seem positively churlish not to show up. Especially after all the effort you've gone to, sampling the sponsors' products & all....
of course, we Southerners expect a stirling performance after your warmup events in the other island ;-)
-
Man, I thought I might be able to come to this, but it looks like I'll be stuck in Timaru doing the regional round. Damn shame. Anyway, it would be grand to catch up with the ChCh PASers some other time. And I wish you two all the very best for your launch!

And, instead of whinging & pestering, I should've said what Matthew did in his ultimate sentence - tautoko'd!

And you have Email today, (seeing as you miss a Book launch), snail mail tomorrow Islander.
-
And Sofie - you & the other significant S & S 's have snail mail creeping on through the system (2 packages - 'cause I gave 'em to a neighbour to post so I dont know the trackbacks yet) and I really look forward to seeing whatever Steve does with the bits-
and Giovanni?
All ("The South Island" etc. & the cheese - jeez! It took a while to herd that into the box!) on the way on Monday-Sofie - the photos heal a small rift in my heart - many thanks!

Just arrived back in CHCH and staggered in the door of our house -- very nice to read the comments on this thread...
Islander: Oooh, looking forward to that CD!
Matthew Littlewood: very sorry that we won't be seeing you...
Other Christchurchers: but it will be excellent to see all of youse!
Dunedinites: a Dunedin book launch was mooted, but Emma demurred on the flimsy grounds of wanting to see her children and her bloke. The nerve of the woman! But I shall attempt to persuade her to do a boozy Dunedin PA visit with me sometime next year.
And now I must do some laundry...

Aw, Matthew, that's sad in so many ways.
But yeah, we're down to what I told my mother about Christmas: you wanna see me, you drag your arse up here. Said lovingly, of course.
But I am really chuffed that we're able to do something in Chch finally.

Road trip!
being propositioned by people of both sexes
I kind of feel that I should mention that no PAS people misbehaved themselves on my trip, though they could hardly claim to "want to get to know me better".

So am I!
But would be a lot moreso if the great company and flowing Monteiths weren't on a Monday/school/work night... :(
Sorry to miss it. Have a great one. -

Let's work on that, then. It's alarmingly expensive to fly there from Auckland, but if I can get a flight well in advance, I'll come down and spout some old bollocks.
-
I can only drop in for an hour or so due to prior commitments, but I'm really looking forward to tonight - finally, a chance to put (some) faces to names!
-
Golly gosh David. Those are some awfully complimentary statements about me and the show. Thanks for your thoughts. I'm often feeling around in the dark when it comes to developing new ways for the show to reach audiences so it's nice when someone shouts back that I'm doing the right thing. Very cool to meet you both, do come back soon and have fun at the Chch launch this evening.

Yay. Dunedinistas will happily get together and listen and spout back. Bring books and their writers with you.
-
Arse biscuits. Was so looking forward to this and am now feeling totally distraught upon receipt of reminder about bastard after work meeting being brought forward a week early to tonight.
Am hopeful everyone will be prolific enough to warrant another Chch launch!
All the very best for this evening.

I hear that Ihimaera chap might have one out again soon. Sure he'd be up for a tour of university towns to establish some credibility.
-
Wish I could be there tonight, but I'm crook. Any future PA events in Chch, I'll be there with bells on. Have a great night :-)
-
though they could hardly claim to "want to get to know me better"
Missing a "not" in there?
-

Eeek. I'm not sure that's a thought I needed!!
<rocks quietly> -
As my eyes are still not quite opposite the holes in my skull, I read that as...
"I'll come down and sprout some old bollocks."
The mind, having boggled, moves on.
