  • Sofie Bribiesca,

Thanks all for constructive input. I tend to get very critical of what I see as black or white.(mexican, eye for an eye type of attitude).Unfortunately, they will visit again though and noone will remember her, and lordy help anyone else.

  • Kyle Matthews,

The UK papers (all available here via the internet) would not only name the victim, some of them would happily try and shame her too. They'd interview friends, boyfriends, family. They'd stake out her house. Any failing they found would be headlines. And, as we've seen already, these same journalists are quite happy to pass on lies.

We really do fail don't we. An argument for court suppression orders to cross international borders via inter-country agreements if ever I heard one.

  • Shep Cheyenne,

I hear ya Kyle, but I wouldn't want Mugabe to be able to silence NZs media. Just that it's not able to be reported here if suppressed is all we can really do.

Well I don't think you'd make it a blanket rule. But if you made it like extradition treaties - you'd have agreements with specific countries based on your assessment of their legal systems.

It wouldn't be perfect, the internet breaks suppression orders, but if you could prevent it being on the front page of the tabloids you'd probably stop half the fuss.
