  • Not Guilty,

I'm not saying Bain didn't do it (only Bain truly knows), but I don't see how any of us can judge him. The jury at least had the benefit of hearing all the evidence, and not through the lense of the news media. And they weren't convinced of his guilt.

Yeah, fair enough. I think that you're right that there was always doubt, and I understand the decision.

It's a shame you don't get the Herald on Sunday, David. I think you could take it to the next level with a Rachel Glucina parody.

Russ. We already have our tickets, I was kind of inquiring for James Liddell. Cheers.

Righto, that should be fine too.

  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

And, like Clark before him, Key withdrew his ministerial warrant while (to coin a phrase) allegations where swirling around him.

But in the case of the matter brought to him by Goff -- which is the one we're discussing -- he didn't.

As far as I'm aware, the Prime Minister's Office is not an arm of the Police or SSC.

Even if they are as alleged, Worth's actions may not have been criminal. I can't see what they'd have to do with the SSC at all. But they should certainly have been of concern to the Prime Minister.

  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

I don't have much tolerance for sexual harassment or its enablers, but I don't like self-serving bullshit either. I don't see how anyone but Goff himself is responsible for his behaviour, which I'm seriously underwhelmed by.

Indeed, you seem considerably more focused on blaming Goff that anyone else involved.

Meanwhile, 3410, if someone comes to you claiming they've been subject to sexual harassment you'd take it seriously, and do everything in your power to make sure its reported promptly to the appropriate authority. And that wouldn't be the CEo's office.

Eh? Worth is a minister of the Crown. He is the Prime Minister's responsibility. Goff brought the matter to the Prime Minister's office. Where it was shelved.

Goff didn't actually make any public comment on the earlier case until Key blurted out that there had been previous allegations brought to his attention, on his way into the chamber on Wednesday.

  • Not Guilty,

The suppressed evidence is now published:

    REDACTED ON LEGAL ADVICE

It's really quite creepy. But can one of the lawyers explain tome when evidence stops being evidence as to the character of the accused, and starts being "prejudicial"? I'm not clear on this.

Yes? How is that NOT a workplace issue?

The lack of a workplace would be the big one.

And while I'm sure there are plenty of people who are going to differ, I don't give Goff any kind of pass here ..

    Clearly not ...

  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

Oh, and I think it's enitrely legitimate to ask Goff some tough questions about why he sat on a pretty fucking serious allegation of sexual harassment for months.

People have. He says the woman concerned was initially reluctant to take it further.
