  • Random Play: Soundtrack of a stay-at-home,

    I'm confused...

First you say "it has no redeeming features."

But then, there's "The beautiful women of course look like perfect Fifties housewives, except in leopard skins and skimpy outfits."

    Surely you've contradicted yourself? :)

I must concur that Zardoz is a rare delight, and despite its over-hyped reputation, Plan 9 From Outer Space is also genuinely special...

  • Hard News: Party Time, Excellent,

I've heard CYFS takes a rather dim view of leaving them alone for the evening, even if you do leave the remote within easy reach and $20 pinned to their nappy in case of emergencies (curse you, nanny state!.

Surely, if the state really was a Nanny... you wouldnt have to look after them yourself and you could go out?

You've disproved your own label. :D

  • Hard News: Party Time, Excellent,

I am slowly morphing into my gravatar - is this happening to anyone else?

Not so much with the slowly morphing... I've always had a gear lever sticking out of my head :)

  • Busytown: A turn-up for the books,

I wonder if "I'm buying up the un-sold stock" is actually spin for "I've had to give back my pay to cover the expenses I've caused my employer in loss of sales and pulping"?

    You look really familiar...

  • Busytown: Less is more,

Excellent! Bill S was a journo at heart.

Actually... I think thats one of the main complaints about what passes for journalism these days, isnt it?

Too much emphasis on a ripping good yarn and not so much on accuracy or balance. :)

  • Southerly: Seventy per cent Monteith's,…,

I've got an old recording which inadvertantly has, in the background, my gf frying some eggs.

So does every album ever released before CD....
(well, not necessarily your GF, but someone...)

  • TVNZ7 Bill English promo,

If you pay attention, and view the whole add.... no, not really.

But if you arent paying close attention, or only see the first two thirds.... then yes, it can appear to be promoting Bill English's ability to affect those changes in the economy...

And really.... how often do you sit down and pay attention to an Ad? As opposed to say, start chatting to your co-watcher, or get up and go to the loo, or put on the kettle....
Many ads are designed to convey a message thats not overtly stated, or that gets through partial inattention....
