  • Hard News: When the Game is Over,

If you listen to the commentary on Sky, it is stunning how their tone changed when Cruden had to go and Stevie took the field. I swear the roof damn near collapsed from the collective inward breath of the room's spectators as well.

But rumour has it that 1 point is sufficient to win a game. How come we have not ripped the team apart in the usual any-other-game-gory-detail skin stripping accompanied by the litany of abuse of the players? Oh...and the ref!

Please please NZ. Take the victory on board as a fine achievement and let the future be a little more kinder on our future heroes.

A paper mentioned that it was Don Tricker who convinced the NZRFU to resign Henry and The A Team 4 years ago, As I have said previously, I think that decision was a turning point in NZ sport and more importantly for NZ coaching.

    May it become a trend.

But alas, the Hawkes Bay Rugby team has dumped their winning coach this year....apparently it is TIME for a new one. I hope this instance of such shortsightedness is the last. WAKEUP....... idiots.

  • Field Theory: All Blacks v Wallabies Tensionfest,

In true league style SBW's tackle was going to be either a shoulder charge or a late and high arm out that took Quaide's head off. It was the former so at least it was only a yellow. 7 minutes from the end with the game won and putting him on isn't really a easy introduction and I suspect one doesn't really know what purpose they are going onto the field for. It wasn't as if Ma'a had been killed, or worse, wounded.

Apparently he isn't the only All Black to be given a yellow card. Rumour I heard.

PS - Further to the rumour mill, do I recall that Ma'a was once considered an ill disciplined young buck who would never be tamed from - I loved this SA term from way back - coconutting?

Such short memories.......god's gift to rubgy two weeks previous. Put him on against the Frogs Ted. He'll turn them back into tadpoles.

a fait accompli (do the French have a word for that?),

You mean like that feeling we had this morning after Aussie goes down - Schadenfreude. (Do the Germans have a word for that?)

  • Field Theory: All Blacks v Wallabies Tensionfest,

Craig Joubert for the final. Not that other one.

I too had a look in the replays of Dagg's foot and it looked OK to me. In the air at the time of the pass I reckon.

  • Field Theory: All Blacks v Wallabies Tensionfest,

As I have just read this very minute, Australia had the youngest team at the Tourney. Robbie has rid it of the dead wood and there is no doubt they will improve with age.

    What am I saying.........

    Don't worry...Be happy!

  • Field Theory: All Blacks v Wallabies Tensionfest,

My jaundiced eyes saw the best game of winning AB rugby for an awful long time. There were only a couple of short interludes where an ozzie would get the ball and ACTUALLY get past a couple of "our" blokes. But it was shortlived. Dominating and it was great to witness the brashness of youth causing mayhem.

And that kid from Upper Hutt?...what.....a .....guy...!

Never seen so much "clean blood" in a game either. I say clean because a workmate has just mentioned that it was noticable there was little dirt with the blood. Eden park is holding up bloody well with all those games.

Poor old Piri. In cricket he would be called a chucker. Now HE knows how the Sally Boys felt.

I have no hesitation in congratulating the NZRU for having the balls to keep those three coaches together four years ago. All NZ sport should take a hint from that decision as I felt NZ came of age with that by not reverting to type and dumping the losing coaches.

Christ. We might have been congratulating Dingo this morning.........or......we might not have been....and Australia might have been cheering Henry.
