  • Lilith __,

Many thanks to Jackson for setting this up. I'm delighted to be able to show people some Chch things they may not be seeing in the media. There's a lot going on here, of all sorts!

And I hope others will post their own words and pictures about the Christchurch they're living in.

  • Hebe,

Well done yous three - Jackson, Gudrun and Lilith. Those blanket pix look even better bigger -- they capture the hugeness of that rug.

Thanks Lilith - Kia Kaha Sumner! Best little village in the world. Now if we can just get rid of the white zoning:-(

People-watching around Sumner always made me think of Dennis Glover's poem...

Cave Rock is made of toffee, and the sea of lemonade
and the little waitress wavelets are always on parade
When cars roll down to Sumner on a Sunday.

The ice cream mountain on the blue is free for anyone
and Scarborough Head looms solid as a tearoom tuppeny bun
When Mum and Dad are glum or glad, at Sumner on a Sunday.

And wistfully the children sit, whilst army trombones teach
That only Christ, not Cortes, can land upon the beach.
At Sumner when the sea rolls in, at Sumner on a Sunday.

    Why thank you Joe. :-)

Thanks for the great shot, Kebabette. I know you've put a link, but would you like to post a few other Gap FIller pics here? Maybe a selection from their various events? This would be a great place to show them.

  • Sofie Bribiesca,

Well, I think all the photos are great. Nice that the knitting came from all over the world.Certainly cheerful. I am left with a twinge of sadness with the reality of the protest that must still continue in order to sort out the insurance rip off. Gudren, what powerful images. "Nothing left to give" protester suggests it really is affecting everybody. I also like the group photo, "Insurance Fraud" with the cop fading into insignificance in the background.
Lilith, if you had a watermark like Gudren, could we have more from you, now or in the future? { ;)

I find that image particularly haunting. And the sense of quiet determination in all those faces. People who’ve been through so much, still fighting.

Oh Sofie, I'm trying to work this stuff out in my head! Along with what I'm doing with my life in general. :-)

Made all the more poignant by the dawning - for some - realisation that the small core of protest organisers weren't being entirely candid about their own agenda. More ineptitude than conspiracy perhaps, but it's left an unpleasant aftertaste.

    Excellent! Upward & onward.

Anyway a couple more shots from a bunch of supposed outtakes that Gudrun was kind enough to pass on.
