Not bitter, Craig. Just disappointed in our fellow citizens who didn't recognize the good times when they fell over them. The polarisation of politics, which started in the US under Rove, has led to a situation where the left can do nothing right in the right's eyes and vice versa.
I fancy that PAS is a little above this level of "debate" but I suspect the electorate is not. And a bunch of people will have voted without actually considering what they are voting for, as happens every election. And I'm always disappointed when they do.

My family have always been Labour and there is deep dislike for Goff that spans decades. They're in education, as are a huge chunk of Labourites.
But barring some colossal lies being told by National, I doubt Labour will get in next time, so perhaps they need to put in some old hack to take next election on the chin.
Clark spoke well. Key spoke well, if a little too long. But it's his night, he's allowed. I was bloody annoyed at both networks interrupting his speech with inane mid-speech analysis. Our media really can be a circus, what was with the haranguing him with questions before he even got to the podium? That's just tacky, the kind of thing Britney Spears has to endure, not the likely leader of the country. Didn't they just see how it's done with style, only a couple of days ago?
Predictions for what he's going to do right now? I think it's anyone's guess. National is totally in the driver's seat, they can and will treat this result as a mandate for their policy. If I knew what that was I could feel appropriately scared or happy, but currently it's just 'let's wait and see'. They may well be quite moderate and sensible. With a Democrat government in Washington, I'm waaay less worried than I was a week ago.

Have a nice morning nursing the hangover and pissing on the hundreds of thousands of your fellow citizens who had the unmitigated cheek to vote in a manner which you, in your infinite wisdom, do not approve of. I've got the best part of a day in the garden as penance for the excess of sugar water and high fat snack food I ate tonight. Then to the Bridgeway to see the Metropolitan Opera's __Peter Grimes__ (with Teddy Tahu Rhodes among the cast) in ravishing HD digital video and sound.

I certainly dont have her kind of power but I do have mine. The two dont mingle but they used to sort of - cohabit? Labour backgrounds, creativity in different ways, possibly sexually reserved- but hey, I really dont know about those latter things. I am a reserved and non-public person whereas Helen Clark has been an intensely public persona.
I'd respectfully suggest you know fuckall about South Island politics, paticularly Kai Tahu politics. -
