  • Russell Brown,

How's Scoop's traffic this afternoon, Al? Got any crazy numbers or steepling graphs for us?

Oh, and feel free to continue with the "who said this?" quizzes. That's a good game.

  • BenWilson,

Lucy, you could also get a 'Familiar name' by clicking 'Reply All' on a message that copied in that person. I wouldn't read too much into it. I'm sure a lot of famous people have their full names entered into address books of people they've never heard of. Perhaps the mail server resolved the email address and filled in the field in the faux header.

  • Malcolm 141,

Webweaver: (a few pages ago). Interesting point. Not proved by this particular memo, but suggestive. If you could prove authorisation by National, that would be very very serious.

  • Peter Martin,

Ok Alastair.......has Hager talked to half a dozen National wallahs as he claimed? Are they identified......if not,can you identify any?

  • Richard Bol,

It would seem that English and Collins are running a ticket against Key and Brownlee. Interesting. Almost as interesting as the incredible bitterness between McCully and English. As I said before, what a nest of vipers.

I'd say "they're all neocons", but National didn't have anything to do with the neocons. Don Brash, er, said so ...

  • Alastair Thompson,

    Ok... more who said.

And traffic is nice and high. 1800 hits on the smoking gun story so far. I suspect that Google News is helping this....

Ok Who said regarding the orewa welfare speech...

"I have added a poossibly outrageous suggestion that we provide free contraception to women between the ages of 16 and 30 on a doctor's prescription, on the grounds that it might appeal to women, and could well be "self funding" in terms of a reduction of DPB disbursements. Is this a totally stupid idea? Might it attract all the media headlines?"

  • Paul Rowe,

Well I recognise the name Richard Armitage, from State Dept, so is Zoellick I think.

Are they all neo-cons writing National Party policy? ;)

I'd hazard a guess that all made some minor intervention into NZ politics, while being unable to find NZ on a map, or name its capital.

Alistair, that's too easy...they've all advised Brash, and secured promises from...sheesh, and I don't even have the book.

  • Alastair Thompson,

Russell gets the banana there.. people who are not neocons who Don Brash did meet....

    Since someone is raising collins..

    Who said...

"I thought the health presentation at caucus was awful, and I am trold Judith's family presentation was worse. I am not one the caucus complains to, except for today. so it must have been pretty bad. There are a few lessons here..." Judith Collins had been pushed by the strategy team "as a star" but she was a second year MP "pushed beyond her capacity into a hard portfolio with apparent backing from the top." She has "spent too much time cultivating the media herself and beleiving the resulting publicity. She will find it hard to recover her credibility in caucus where she has been a tough critic of her colleagues behind the scenes and they know it."

  • Compie,

And if anyone want's a home grown Kramer.

Dave Witherall in his attack on Meridian's central otago wind farm had some choice words about - misguided government allowing foreigners to flood the ghettos of Auckaland. Not even sure how it fitted into the debate, but he snuck it in there.

Now why isn't that man on stage double billing with the once great Kramer.

    ODT tomorrow should be fun

    Brian Connell...

Actually this is tough cos I struggle to name more than about ten of the Nats caucus.

    Maybe Williamson?

  • Alastair Thompson,

... yeah contraception one too easy.... is brash

    On the same speech..

National should find "a few real people" to pop up supporting the speech "when the critics pounce.... I would be grateful if you shifted the text across to a page of your own and "owned" it from this point on. I'd rather not be linked with any form of authorship."

  • BenWilson,

This guesswork is making me bitter. Damn that Whitcoulls, looks like I won't be breaking my rule of never buying another printed word after all, if all the good bits are going to be public knowledge before the release. But this dripfeed is frustrating!

Perhaps I could just make a donation to Hager directly and cut them out of the loop and profits.

  • Richard Bol,

Based on Bill's press conference, it's him trashing Collins. Oops. Guess I was wrong about the English-Collins ticket - but why have both Collins and Brownlee said they want to be deputy?

aha.. collins quote is causing some consteration... no banana there yet.

    Here's a goodie...

"Can we stop Don from giving speeches? Today's speech is about as exciting as watching paint dry. The speech delivery is too long, monotonous, slow paced, and he is having far too many stumbles."
