Some churches were curlier...
Slip, sliding away?
It is Cranmer Square.
Only thing missing is the Ice Queen. Excellent.

I liked that effect too. This was one that I could have included.
Yeah, nice. They don't look like ordinary mortals here, and they're not! :-)
More of the flaming light show.
Yeah, love that one.
All this makes me wonder when I'll be getting my ice skates out of storage...I wonder if they're going rusty in there...

That looks like some winter wonderland-y European City. If I didn't know how cold it was, and how many people in Christchurch are displaced, I would envy people who live in places where it snows.

Lovely shot of a piece of real estate. I feel just about every city ought to have a bit of snow now and then if nothing else just a few photo ops.Oh and snow people.

Snow is very beautiful. If we weren't so disaster-weary, we'd probably be loving it too. The "snow days" that we used to get about once every year were a fun day off for most people. But last year after everything else we had 2 major snowfalls, each lasting a week. It was too much, and too scary.
We had no water here for a few hours last night, owing to a burst main somewhere, and even though I knew it was just an ordinary outage, I felt quite panickey. It was a reminder of the really bad times. :-(

Thanks. I used another shot like that for our farm Facebook page... ;-)
Everyone needs snow once in a while. Couldn't live anywhere it didn't happen reasonably close at hand. As long as it doesn't muck with my lemons...

A permanent ice skating rink was one of Kerry Prendergast's promises when she first stood for Mayor of Wellington in 2002. It never eventuated. However, last winter there was a temporary one - which is probably much like the current Auckland one - on Queen's wharf. It was very popular, and anyone could watch the action on the rink. But as it was quite expensive to actually use it raised questions about the privatisation of public space.

There’s currently a temporary one in Palmy, but yeah, fairly expensive to use (prices and details).

It is Cranmer Square.
Or the back of a wardrobe....
