And so the red blossom falls from the trees and pools on the ground …
Shot, sir.
Thank you! And thank Camera+. I wanted to bring up the red so I chose the "vivid" effect and it ... turned into something.

Apart from the tall and gangly bit, I guess. ;-)
Ah, details! ;-)
I think that's a dahlia. I took a lot of photos of that one's cousins the other day in the Chch Botanic Gardens. Must sort them. Amazing thing about the Gardens - you get whole 360-degree views with no earthquake damage in them - priceless!!

But no bee
They were covered in them up here. At one stage two were fighting over the same flower.

Mass photographers, midnight fireworks
Oh, lovely shot!
Any other Capturazzi in the crowd, do you think? :-)

Lilith; These are Ornamental or Sea Thistles, closely related to globe artichokes and yer pesky Scotch Thistle. I should post a photo of an artichoke bud once it opens into a display of intensely blue stamens.

I am heartbroken at the little forest that is starting to establish itself in my back garden. It started with one at some stage and now god forbid, i have to take motorized implements to deal to them. Any remedies?

Oh, thanks Geoff! I thought there might be some thistleness in there, after I tried to remove one of those shrivelled petals. Ow! :-)

Is that in the Bay of Islands? It does look very tranquil.

It is. Just across the water from Russell, to be exact. Hop off the ferry, drive a couple of minutes, and this place was set on a hill, with a wee bushwalk down to the beach. It was lovely.

I was too, then I began to accept that there is a certain beauty with all the weeds. A friend suggested it was only a weed if it's in the way, but certain ones do travel at concord speed and they will be removed later. Meanwhile whilst some are not in my way I will just let them be. Gorse is my bitch at the mo. The wet weather has made it easy to grow but easy to pull out.

Speaking of flowers, I wonder if anyone can identify this one.
Thunbergia, probably thunbergia laurifolia. What you reckon?
