Sumner last night before and after the wee 4.something.
Amazing shot Gudrun. Love the clouds circling the moon.
Also glad someone else tipped us over 800 replies. Not that I'm counting or anything. ;-)

Thanks Joe. I keep looking at it and wondering if it’s real.
ETA: Repeating myself. I blame Steve. ;-)

My roamings this afternoon had very different causes for wonder. Light traffic on the 3rd Ring Road? Is that still possible? (The top of Beijing's tallest building and a corner of Beijing's weirdest building are just barely visible in that photo, although it seems I have better eyesight than my Nokia)

I have long puzzled over this loco. It's not an old one put up on display, just a cheap-looking mock up. The windows are white because they're squares of white paint. And I have never seen or heard anything to suggest a railroading past to this corner of Beijing - that's not far up the road from me in an area called 农光里 - agricultural glory district? In any case, the last trace of agriculture left the area a long time ago.

Chris, may I thank you for bringing in material that is personal, familial *and* informed, from an area of the world, a very big area, that many of us are fascinated about?
Your posts are very much welcomed by me and mine- -

Our family has a strong Chinese connection, which I hope to share with you one day. Cheers. -

Understand that I am blushing as I write this...
I'm just sharing a little bit of the world as I experience it, loving what everybody else shares, and enjoying the whole process. But thanks for the vote of confidence, it is truly appreciated, because for a long time I held off commenting much around these parts because I felt my experience was too far removed from everybody else's.

Is that for sale? 'Cause I could happily live with that image. And I really need to join the Cloud Appreciation Society while I am at it... wonderful sky shots all round.

Jackson that is one hell of a shot. +++A

Thanks Julie, and everyone else.
I'll send you a copy if you like. Did I mention it was another phone photo? It is 8mp, but not sure how big it would print.
As I said elsewhere, the sky did all the work, I just took a photo.

The best camera is the one you got with you, for sure. I imagine that you were driving along looking up and going wow wow and then finding somewhere to pull over and get a decent foreground... unlike this one taken at the lights through a car window. Taken a while back coz the rain just keeps on falling here.
Slowly catching up on this thread... a rich and rewarding tapestry of light.

Absolutely fabulous Jackson. I looked at the sky and thought I hope Jackson gets a photo knowing you had rode off into the sunset. It was spectacular and obviously performed for you :)
I managed a couple of midnight shots.
also +1 on Chris Waugh’s photos too. What Islander said...
