ok, what's that? Looks like the inside of a slinky!

Yep, it’s a slinky. Took a photo through the middle of it. You can just see the eye of the be-holder in the middle.
ETA: You worked it out before I answered. ;-)

It's like that on the other side of the portal. What's everyone else waiting for? ;-)

That is a local swimming hole in Fern Flat along the road from Peria. It is a gem. Spain, did you know there is a town in Spain called Bribiesca? I find it weird that all the Spanish people I meet know of it and it's not even big or anythink. The place of chocolate in the North. I must get there one day. Of course I am one of the few in the family to have not made it. }:O ole!

I’m gonna see all your portals and raise you a Road to Nowhere.
That’s quite the depressing road!!
So here are some old folks to cheer you up.

'Twas actually quite a depressing road, and not quite what I expected. The roads I normally take my walks down show a lot more vitality, even when the buildings that line them are just as old, rundown, or in a similar phase of destruction. I do actually know roughly where that road goes to, though, and it's just as rough and ready, but a lot more interesting. That was the first road I've walked down in ages that has had me turn around and head back the way I'd come - partly because I was imposing a very strict limit on the length of my walk, but mostly because of what you can see in those photos.

Jackson, how would it be to start another open thread for random photo conversations? This one's been super-awesome, but it's getting so long....

Is that a juvenile black-backed gull? If I put out bread on the deck-railing here we get first sparrows and then black backed gulls, which land with a thud and a squawk. When they walk on the roof with their big flappy feet, you'd swear there was a person up there.

Maybe over the weekend, I'll give it some thought. I agree, but just haven't got around to it.
