  • Hilary Stace,

Put some new tadpoles into the pond today (so it must still qualify as spring in Wellington). I chose the ones in the shop's tank that were already turning into frogs in the hope that they can hold their own with the goldfish. Just saw one sprint unscathed through a huddle of sun-basking fish. Fortunately, they didn't appear very interested. Too quick for a photo. (Where else on the internet could I express such piscine fascination?)

  • Hebe, in reply to Nora Leggs,

Those dancing glads are interesting: how do you do that? Give them a few sherries?

    Give them a few sherries?

Just one small sherry leads to dancin glads.

Maybe a small sherry would slow Hilary's tadpoles down enough for a photograph?

Deepest reds to go with the beets….

The camera struggles to even register the depth of these reds….. trickery needed, (last pic) waiting till daylight almost gone and brightening pic again on computer….. That's more like it!

It's a hard light day in Dunedin, so I thought I'd take a picture where high contrast was desirable.
