Whakaari/White Island ‘eruption’ this morning
Luckily I speak Vulcan so know what's going on.

Nice!
Trying to work out where you took this from. Matata? Or further down the coast?
My old stomping ground in any case. :-)
ETA: Hold the phone, can see Moutohora in the foreground, so probably the hill above Otawaiwere Bay?

Matata was my old stomping ground, too. It's not Moutohora in the foreground. That's off image to the right. It's Motunau (Plate Is) on the far left. Taken at a distance of about 87.5 km from Whakaari, in the hills above Papamoa/Welcome Bay.
The exif information should still be in the image files, showing that they were taken with a 35mm focal equivalent of about 150mm.
If it was from Otarawairere the sun would be rising almost due north, instead of about 16 degrees north of due east. :-)

V-gain diet?
Fabulous thanks Ian. But what kind of _oodoo is this?!
In reality laziness prevents me from doing something about the missing letter. Even to the point where I miss out that letter when writing by hand.
Toying with the idea of a vivarium to keep this stash of V's in.

Thinking of warmer climes: this was sunset taken at Pre Rup, one of the temples in Angkor, Cambodia. Seems like we were there only yesterday, sitting on the stone steps waiting for the sun to go down.
