Hello Jackson, I'll risk causing offence by saying that it is a pretty song, and she is pretty in it. :-) But crumbs, folk songs, with their toe-tapping and memorable tunes can be pretty full-on about death and gravesides and whatnot! I used to sing 'em myself... The one about the Laredo cowboy takes me back to my childhood: "in the grave throw me and roll the sod o'er me", etc...

I had a flatmate who used to thrash Murder Ballads at high volume when she was happy, and Boatman’s Call when sad.

Of course, this is better.

Rose in Fern.
Last weekend I spotted a rose bloom that had grown up into the centre of the bowl of a fern, bud the bloom had not opened then. I went back this weekend and captured it with many angles and exposures. As the bloom is verging on being to large to be supported by the stem, this will have been my only chance. -

New Brighton yesterday – met this man & his Tin Man
Cool. Looks like an automaton. Did it walk by remote control?

Yes! I had a chat to the maker. I loved that the automaton was wearing the owner's castoff socks and sandals. Apparently he has a Dorothy too; she was in the parade but I didn't see it. Not only has he made these automatons, he also made someone a kickass electronic bass.
