  • Ross Mason,

Shit almighty. Listening and watching this skit should hit some EQC nerves.

  • Ross Mason,

And did anyone choke on their breakfast listening to the story of Mr Fixit talking on his appointment to the CCC as the Consents Fixit Guru??

"He will improve morale and increase productivity" I think the line was on RNZ this morning.

Reminded me of the old rowing team PP slideshow.

  • David Haywood, in reply to Miche Campbell,

Don’t you mean “going forward,” Ross?

Mea culpa, you are quite right! It should be “going”. Not “moving” as I incorrectly stated in the original post (now fixed). The eagle-eyed Conrad Heine has also pulled me up on this via email.

Oh dear, this really should have been obvious to me. “Moving” implies actual movement. “Going” only implies the intent to move at some point in the future (prior to the eventual heat-death of the Universe), while still allowing for possibility of zero velocity at any time up until then.

Also important. We never have discussions about a topic. They must always be around it. Eg, we're having a lot of discussions around rising poverty these days.

    across the issue

Or in extreme form, all over an issue.
Both, in practice, are quite compatible with coverage that still lacks any relevant context, and which may even smother any genuine signs of progress or dialogue.

I've always been confused by the imagery of that phrase. Road? River? Bridge? Mountain?

No, its a cross! Do we have closure? :)

So...it's a cross that is also a gate?

Reminding me of the one about the Catholic god who is The One God, but is also, at the same time, 3 gods and, at times, a biscuit.

    And we’re across the issue

I’ve always been confused by the imagery of that phrase

I've always imagined a group of while middle aged men in suits spawled over a boardroom table covered in documents. Somewhat like a centrefold pose but less pleasant.

Across the issue after having drilled down to optimise the stakeholder engagement paradigm.

Gak. I envy David his pavers after this mis-engagement of KPIs.

It would have been contemporary, too. I think. The resolution (and/or my failing eyesight) is too bad for me to read the exact date on the cartoon, but it is certainly before 2009. 2001? 2004? 2007? I can’t tell. Curse the brown spots in my only working fovea...

Accurate like a Ken Ring weather 'forecast'.
My one and a half-pai working foveas can each see 2005, also a 1 for January, so near enough your central estimate.

Core competencies: I forgot about that.
Huge invoice: I can do that.

Those cartoons make me howl with laughter while referencing the full and frank Anglo-Saxon disclosure regime.

I reserve a special loathing for the condescending "change manager" . Means axe murderer with a styley haircut.

Sublime as usual, even when slime figures large - yurk. As for badgers, a little known fact there: dachshunds were used for chasing same, so perhaps there was one in hot pursuit of them critters that did for Emma's garage door? A sausage dog did it.
Stranger things have happened. Enjoy the summer in Norway, it's brief, I hear.
