  • BenWilson, in reply to truthgiver,

I suspect this time in three year’s time, Andrew Little will be the recipient of the same fickle treatment.

That will depend entirely on how successful he is between now and then. At this point, I wouldn't want to pick it. But I can pick this: I personally like what he says a LOT more than anything Cunliffe or Shearer ever said.

Does it matter if he is Foreman or Forman?

Well, if it's Foreman, then he could be the son of Bill and Diane Foreman, the ice-cream Queen, a name with a quite unfortunate connection back to the National Party.

ETA: What I mean is, they do have a son called Joshua. But I don't know if they're same person - he'd be only about 23 and might have nothing to do with it. Or maybe he is inspired by Slater. I can see that happening to a rich teenage boy.

  • simon g,

Truthgiver appears to be more of an Imaginer.

People are talking about Andrew Little because he's said and done a lot in the past few days, being leader of the opposition.

People aren't talking about David Cunliffe because he isn't in the news, and hasn't been since he stepped down some weeks ago.

    Simple as that.

    "I genuinely couldn't recall and I wasn't going to take a stab."

This seems to be a confession that sometimes he "couldn't recall" genuinely?

Somebody tweeted yesterday to the effect that it must be exasperating having domestic discussions with Key.

"Have you taken out the rubbish, dear?"
"Yes of course I have, honey."
"So why is it still here, by the door?"
"I have taken out the rubbish in the past. Your question did not specify today's rubbish. I would never lie to you, dearest."

Ruh-roh. It's like every scooby doo episode I ever watched. How many masks will we have to pull off before the the slightly left of centre blogger is revaled to be Rush Limbugh?

  • Katharine Moody,

    So the PM himself gave Cam the new number;

Mr Key confirmed this morning that he had given Slater his new cellphone number after he changed it during the election campaign.

However he said he was "fundamentally not" in contact with Slater.

It's actually all hilarious. Gwyn and Ketteridge will both wish they'd been less sympathetic - as he's taking their reputations down with him.

Indeed. It's a trail so obvious, you could put a tail on it and call it an elephant.

Yes there was a link between JF and Slater but the waters are very muddy. Real question – is this blogger spelled Forman or Foreman? Seems commentators who are promoting him are using Forman or Foreman.

It’s definitely Forman, without the E. As for the man himself, he’s the real deal, but the way he operates comes across as idiosyncratic. Politically he sounds like a Fox News liberal in the Zell Miller mold who thinks he's been ‘mugged by reality’, and the latest contacts between him and the Oily One seem to be a case of “Hey wait a minute! I thought we had a deal here!”

  • simon g,

This year, Key has had no texts from Slater until November 7.

That's what Steven Joyce just told us, speaking for the PM, in Parliament.

Love it. "Fundamentally" as the new tool of evasion. Something's not true unless it's fundamentally true, rather than superficially technically true. I think that if that's not very probably bullshit, then it's very actually bullshit.

  • Sacha,

Our sociopathic PM really is doubling down on the lying.

Key then revealed more contact with Slater since the publication of Nicky Hager's book, Dirty Politics.

"I have never pro-actively rung or text Cameron Slater," he said.

"What I can say [is that] on a small handful of occasions he has sent me unsolicited texts. I've either not responded to those or I've courteously responded, so in principle I haven't engaged in a dialogue with him."

    in principle ...

Someone tell that man that brown isn't one of the six thinking hats, although it can be what you get when mixing the red, green and blue ones too often.

    Cammy don't lose that number...

Mr Key confirmed this morning that he had given Slater his new cellphone number after he changed it during the election campaign.

Giving your number away is 'soliciting' calls or textes (as JK calls em)

Key's problem is that real communication can only happen between equals and he is peerless or he thinks he is, sadly he is well outside any esoteric coteries and he don't know sh*t! (or when to shut up - like Collins & Slater he is a gossipmonger)...

…And as a grand finale to this whole circus, Labour shows complete confidence that the SIS are a changed beast, trustworthy enough to be mandated to install video surveillance in New Zealanders’ homes for up to 48 hours without a warrant.

The bill passed its first reading by 107 votes to 14 – with the Green Party its only opponents.

Tune in here to see a room full of the filthiest perverts you’re ever likely to encounter*.

In case 48 hours of footage of our households seems a bit lengthy, Geoffrey ‘spycam’ Palmer to his credit(?!) is only advocating 24 hour Big Brother fishing expeditions. To the children of New Zealand, hope and pray your parents or the border don’t aspire to be terrorists as there are 107 voyeurs in Wellington gunning for gifting their spooks the right to capture your bits on candid camera without so much as a warrant being issued. Not for 1 minute, nor 2, but for a solid 48 hours of uninterrupted uncensored depravity.

    *excluding (of course) The Greens.

  • Marc C,

What an eventful week and an eventful day. We have had the above mentioned report, based only on evidence that was accessible and available, while much has been deleted and destroyed, and John Key and his rotten Office have only been marginally exposed, and we had a report on Judith Collins' activities, which was also based on a very narrow scope for an investigation, letting her off the hook, while much was not even properly looked at.

Slater and Key continued texting, and the PM has been found out lying left right and centre, and he does not know where to start, to cover up his lies.

This afternoon Slater was on Radio Live, and he spouted off his usual BS, all based on nothing but his imaginations or fabrications, but he did all to defend Key. It seems rather obvious that Slater, the blogger aka "wannabe journalist", who knows where all the political sceletons are hidden, wants to keep Key, or at least National with perhaps another leader in Office. But luckily he is so toxic, he has unintentionally been participating in the dismantling of the false image and aura of "honesty" and "integrity" of the PM.

It has become known now also, Key deletes ALL his text messages, I wonder why? The reason is clear, to not be found out.

Let us hope that Key will get more entangled in his web of lies and manipulations, and will be exposed more fully over the next weeks. It is time to go, Mr Key, time is up, LIAR!

Labour voted at the first reading to force it to go to select Committee stage so that it can be scrutinised . Write to your Mp or anyone you want to complain. Express yourself somewhere that might make a difference. Or, don't. It is obvious that it's pointless trying any National puppet though

For the first time ever and following Angela’s post I stepped up and made a Select Committee submission yesterday. It was pretty crap but we’ve all got to start somewhere. I appreciate Mr LIttle’s conscientiousness, but on this issue I stand right about here:

Though ‘complete confidence’ in my post above is exaggeration for effect, correct me if I’m wrong Sofie, but Labour don’t have the numbers to defeat the bill so it was inevitably going to Committee stage, whether Labour opposed or not?
