  • Hadyn Green,

I hope you realise that by mentioning Lost in the title of your post meant I didn't read it.

  • Richard Kyle,

Thanks for the heads up on Damages... agree it jumps around a fair whack but good Sunday night viewing. 10.30pm!!! I'm tucked up at that time and so old school our VCR has stopped working..what to do?

  • David Hood,

Of the two Lost devotees at work, myself and one other, I indulge in internet information and she doesn't. Then the day after the episode I fill in the context of the details in a chat we have about the just screened episode.
With the erratic number of "x many episodes to go" over the past six weeks or so, I was wondering if TVNZ were going to divide up the final into two parts.

  • Sacha,

Wouldn't it be helpful if they overlaid the actual episode number around ad breaks - like "s5e12". Then you could link what you read with what they broadcast, no matter how delayed it is.

Loving the True Blood minisodes - though they are the very definition of tease

  • BenWilson,

I'm only watching Lost out of sheer bloodymindedness now.

Don't worry, there are no spoilers in Fiona's post. Apart from the thing about the giant bar of soap - but that's like so obvious.

  • Craig Ranapia,

Lost is looking like a balance of good and evil, don’t you think?

Nope, in the end Lost is all about proving Philip Larkin right -- with a body count.

  • Graeme Edgeler,

In the file of things people should have been watching: First Australians, which finished its run on Maori TV yesterday.

As for Lost, I taped the first episode. It was a double episode, and never had the opportunity to watch a "movie-length" premiere over the following before the third episode aired. Thus, I have never seen Lost. That'll teach you TV2.

  • Joanna,

Oh man, Justified is so awesome. It's so slow-moving, but the characters are fantastic, and it always makes me hungry for some reason and I love all the Deadwood reunions, like with the prisoner holed up in the office of the marshals. Plus, oh yes, there's that little thing about the astonishing attractiveness of Timothy Olyphant and his amaaaaaaaazing chemistry with the leading lady. Raaaaaaaaaowwww.

  • Craig Ranapia,

    Who’s loving The Good Wife?

Surprisingly, yes -- there's nothing startlingly fresh about it, but it's a pretty standard legal soaper where everyone does the basics impeccably. Even Julianna Margulies -- who I usually find as engaging as a block of balsa wood marinated in botox -- is good value.

I must say, this second season is a bit of a hard watch

The problem I've always had with Damages is that once you've relished Glenn Close playing the kind of iceberg-hearted bitch she can do in her sleep, and has, what have you got? A downright spectacular cast with not enough to do. Glenn Close can own a scene just by being in shot; everyone else needs a coherent script to play off.

Oh man, Justified is so awesome.

I keep hearing that, but when you're doing Elmore Leonard -- well, as far as I'm concerned this man is a golden god, whose record of suck-tactularty bad adaptations is of Stephen King proportions. Or put another way, Jackie Brown, Out of Sight and Get Shorty were an awfully long time ago.

My bloodymindedness was replaced by 'will you just hurry up and die, FFS, your character is done already!' in about season 3.

With the erratic number of "x many episodes to go" over the past six weeks or so, I was wondering if TVNZ were going to divide up the final into two parts.

For us, there is only one more episode to go next Wednesday before the finale on Saturday May 29. TV2 is screening it over two and a half hours. In the US the penultimate episode has just screened, and their big finale is on Sunday.

Wouldn't it be helpful if they overlaid the actual episode number around ad breaks - like "s5e12".

Helpfully, TVNZ Ondemand includes the ep title.

    Seriously?

  • Tim Michie,

I'm placing my hopes on Lost ending so byzantine convulted that a header won't give the game away... I just wish sites didn't post so many screencaps on the masthead so when character X is in jeopardy I don't ignore it as they're in the next episode (one disadvantage of dropping the manic time travel of Season 5: we know we're on a somewhat (twinned) linear narrative).

At least we're only an eprisode behind and I don't have a watercooler for the bitorrential rain on the parade...

All said, I still expect to fell lost at the end of all and would be disappoint if I'm not.

I hope the last two season DVDs come with extensive commentaries. I'm faithful, but struggling to make sense of it. Certainly gone downhill as well.

  • Ian Dalziel,

does anyone else (stuck watching in Real Time) get confused with some of the same actors in Lost appearing in Flash Forward immediately before...?
especially as they seem to share many plot propositions (favoured by their creator) - non linear time, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, ok, towers instead of wells, but...
    head. hurts.

  • JP Hansen,

Speaking of this sort of thing... anyone know when Fringe is set to return to NZ broadcast TV?

And if "Community" is going to air here, I need another good US sitcom, and have only heard good things about this show.

US Office has lost me, Modern Family is superb and 30 Rock has become less consistently brilliant.

Oh man, I could talk up Community all day! It's just got better and better as it goes along. Especially when Joel McHale takes off his clothes. I am gutted that all the US shows I watch are now having their season finales and I will be left all alone over the cold cold winter.

    Right, that settles it.

I might see if I can acquire a VHS of Community from my Auntie in the USA.

I couldn't stick with Fringe. "Oh, here's another fantastic bit of silly science that I discovered in my lab before I was locked away for being mad which I forgot to mention last week!"

The obvious solution of "hey mate, what other shit did you cook up in your lab years ago? Just so we know what's coming eh!" didn't seem to occur to anyone.

Season 2 of Fringe is worth checking out for the episode with Peter Weller and the 80s flashback episode, complete with 80s-style opening credits...
