  • Tom Beard,

    Coincidence? Or tattoo idea?

Has anyone yet printed underwear with "NSFW" on the front?

  • Emma Hart,

Thanks for the tugid member link, Emma - but, with all due respect to those of the male persuasion, dicks just aren't as aesthetically pleasing as breasts, are they?

I think it's much easier to find pleasing pictures of breasts than of penises. How much of that is things like nice curve and how much is the shot and how much is social attitude I don't know. I'm not sure that's the comparison we should be making, though. The genitals are the last area to be kept covered, so we should really be comparing penises with vulvas.

  • David Hamilton,

But seriously, I'm going to have to have *that* conversation with this person obviously, but I've put it off partly because I don't remember how it goes in its tactful version, and partly because in 2009 it's so rare to find people who will do that. It's almost got a retro kitsch nostalgia value.

    Should you forward that email?

  • JackElder,

Have you ever read the Erotic Review? God knows, it needs -something- done to it. Picked up a copy or two back when I was over living in the UK. Fell asleep. Very much two-handed reading.

  • complacenta,

"Yeah, it's been years since I last had to do that, tell a co-worker that her hilarious climate-change denial emails were unwelcome. I'd send you a copy of my response, but it's only appropriate if you want that person to burst into tears and then never speak to you again."

on the one hand, you folks toss around trivia like the happiest lot in the world. But on the other, you appear quite severely religious...

for example, does EH really mean to say 'hilarious' here or does she mean to say flat-out 'heretical'?

(never was so much inappropriated by those long ago said to be opiated!)

  • Islander,

Um, the plural of 'penis' is penes...
It's a much more elegant-sounding word that penises (generally pronounced penusisses.)

  • giovanni tiso,

And the adjective penile is one of the best in the language.

We can lord it over the gorillas. Who knew?

  • Emma Hart,

A penis must be completely erect in order to obtain an accurate measurement. This may be difficult to achieve in a clinical setting.

Scientific understatement, I love you so much.

    generally pronounced penusisses

    Right next to the texteses.

  • Islander,

There is a kind of promiscuity ratio: if primate females come into obvious heat/season /oestrus and are available to all/most males (i.e Pan troglydytes, the common chimp) the males will have huge testicles and a relatively small penis. If the females are dominant, and not blatantly in oestrus (i.e Pan paniscus), the males will have a
quite impressive penis, and relatively small testicles. If the females are part of a harem, eg Gorilla gorilla, the male will have a relatively tiny penis and a not large set of testicles (but he will be hugely impressively elsewise built.) Orangs and gibbons - hey, I dont know!
You think I care about this orsomething?

  • giovanni tiso,

Not at all. I'm considering homeschooling the children by getting them to read PAS, however.

  • Islander,

Possibly just with the SFX and no visuals Giovanni-

(it probably isnt at all obvious, but I have been intrigued by our primate cousins since I was very small. The first chimp I ever encountered (age 12, Wellkington Zoo) hooted at me, and I 'disgraced' my young widowed mother & 5 siblings, by hooting right back...which set off the rest of the the troup, except for a gnarled old lady who simply- sneered. She had a babe at her breast, whom I met18 years later.)

  • tussock,

The word y'all were looking for is "nude", or "nudes". Noun.

Erotic is instead about the feeling a thing might reasonably inspire in an observer, that of Eros, the god of sexual desire. Kinky is that which might unreasonably inspire the same. Sexy is a socially safer term for much the same thing.

So, streakers are naked, night bathers are in the nick, nudists are unclothed, models are nude, and it's far too deep into winter for all that nonsense, thank you very much.

  • Isabel Hitchings,

The combination of penes on this thread and the two other PAS headings I can see on my other tabs being "The Peter Principle" and "A Very Simple Stroke" is almost too perfect to be co-incidence

    Acronymble...
...and there was me thinking NSFW was shorthand fior National Science Foundation Wankers!

..and wasn't Australia originally a Penile Colony?

I'd always heard that Erotic was using a feather
and Pornography was using the whole duck...
